Huawei-made 7-inch Google Pixel tablet with 4GB of RAM on the way

Vlad, 05 September 2016

Nevermind the upcoming Pixel and Pixel XL phones, Google could be adding a second Pixel-branded tablet to its roster soon, to complement the 10-inch Pixel C launched last year.

From Evan Blass (a.k.a. @evleaks) comes news of an in-development Huawei-made Google tablet with a 7-inch screen and 4GB of RAM. This should apparently be in stores by the end of the year.

No additional details are provided, but because he doesn't call it a Nexus tablet, we assume the Nexus brand really is dead after all and Google will focus all of its mobile hardware on the Pixel name as previously rumored. The long-awaited successor to the second-gen Nexus 7 tablet from 2013 could have intriguingly been trademarked by Huawei already, as the "7P". So its final name might end up being Google Pixel 7P.

It's unclear whether Google plans to announce this 7-inch tablet at its October 4 event, during which it's said to unveil the two Pixel phones as well as a Daydream VR headset and a 4K Chromecast.

Should have been 8". Oh well.

Dozens of low powered old tablets. Yeh... That's really great... Not.
