Huawei's MatePad Pro 13.2 2024 is here with an optional anti-reflective screen

Huawei unveiled a lot of devices today - among them five phones and a tablet - the MatePad Pro 13.2 (2024), which is a nearly indistinguishable relative to the MatePad Pro 13.2 from late 2023.

As the name suggests, the slate has a 13.2-inch 2880x1920px Flexible OLED display with 1,000 nits of brightness and a 144Hz refresh rate. There seemingly are two variants on sale - a regular (likely glossy) version, and the so-called Clear Soft Light Screen version. It has an optical film on top, which uses a nano-magnetic optical coating process and nano-etching technology to diffuse reflections and reduce glare.

Huawei tries to cleverly disguise it in the MatePad Pro 13.2's press materials, but the display has a notch up top in landscape position. The large display supports up to 4 apps at the same time in multi-window mode with aspect ratio adjustment.

The tablet also supports the Smart Magnetic Keyboard and M Pencil 3rd generation for typing and drawing on the go. Edit documents, draw images, add annotations, make conference calls - the Matepad Pro 13.2 (2024) can do it all. As far as AI goes, HarmonyOS NEXT (based on HarmonyOS 4.3) has the Xiaoyi smart assistant based on the Pangu large model for natural conversations and AI assistance with tasks.

Users can combine typed and hand-written notes and use AI for correction and summary.

Multi window

Huawei isn't saying a word about the chipset that runs the show but given the old model used the Kirin 9000S, the new one could be using the rumored Kirin 9100 or the newly-uncovered Kirin 9020. Huawei did say that the 2024 model has 30% better heat dissipation than the previous generation.

The MatePad Pro 13.2 (2024) weighs 580 grams and is 5.5mm thin. It has six speakers and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. For cameras, there's a 50MP f/1.8 main unit on the back, seated next to an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide. Upfront is a 16MP f/2.2 fixed-focus unit.

The 10,100mAh battery can charge from 0% to 80% in 40 minutes.

Inkstone Black, Gold and White

The MatePad Pro 13.2 (2024) is available in two versions - the regular screen model in 12/256GB or 12/512GB, and the Soft Light Edition (with the non-reflective screen) in 12/256GB, 12/512GB, and 16GB/1TB.

The regular model starts at CNY 5,199 (€680, INR 60,500) and will ship before December 15. The Soft Light Edition will go on pre-order on December 12, starting at CNY 5,799 (€760, INR 67,500).

Good pricing. With the OLED screen and Kirin9020 it will have the Snapdragon 8G2/8sG3 level of performance and would be competing with Tab S9+/S9Ultra

There are some colors that tech shouldn't be. This is one of them.
