Bought the imate SP5M a month ago. Pathetic reception (phone hangs costantly- i have to re boot it each time). Customer service / after sales service is quite slow and simply incompetent.
Overall I would not advise any potential purchaser to buy this phone. Its simply not worth it.

Battrey Life less than one day - stand by. Camera very average. Out of 30 calls in a day, only 2-3 callers manage to get through to me (poor reception - phone always hangs)
But the Wifi is good and quick.

ok I will say it again, I have this phone and it has NO FLASH, so the difference between this and sp5 is looks and the extra buttons for MP3. this phone is great except for the poorly designed keypad.

Well guys, steer clear of this phone if you still can because though it has good looks, its twin SP5 is much better in terms of easy to use keyboard, and durability. Its keys are so poorly designed that they get pressed whenever you put it in pouch or pocket and easily get damaged...Also the weight is much heavier and its thicker than SP5. Go for SP5 only

Nice little phone, so far no problems, supports WEP and WPA, clear sounding and beautiful screen. Easy navigation

Using this phone for one week now, and I can say its the best phone I have ever bought, great display, good processor speed, small and very good looking, feels solid, I cant find anything to complain about except that the buttons are easily pressed so the light will go on everytime you move while the phone is in your pocket, this site says it has flash but it doesnt.

The phone is a great concept, and the size of the keypad is something you can get used to. When the SP3 came out, same complaints about the design of the keys, but after a while it was easy to use. Biggest problem facing imate is AFTER SALES (NO) SERVICE. They insisted my phone be sent to UAE for repair (free courier, TNT, very expensive for them) then once there they insisted it was not a warranty repair. Luckily I am in publishing, and had the ability to print an article - after reading the draft article, I was contacted the following day and th ephone was returned - repaired. If you buy, it's a good product - just make sure you buy from a dealer who also REPAIRS for you.

Imate products are absolutely not reliable, I've burnt my money on this brand. These are much hyped products, which do not live up. The phones have peeling paint, freezing soft keys, joy-stick problems. No after sales service support. As some one in the chain said, conceptually the phones are good but they are not yet ready for introduction in the market. HTC in Taiwan the ODM-OEM supplier to IMATE needs to focus & work hard on making durable, rugged & working phones. If you've more money give it to charity, but don't blow it on imate, go for any other smart phone brand.

This phone is great finally something that is small and has wifi. All connections work with other phone and the PC but It does hang once in a while mainly when using bluetooth. can anyone tell me if there is a shortcut to move all my sim contacts to the phone memory? Totally agree that the keypad is too small and the media buttons are not needed.

i bought this recently and i like it alot, the camera is good i think, the pics show up nice on the pc at a large size. The bluetooth has problems though, it will send and accept from other phones SOMETIMES! but it will never accept a file froma pc, i don;t know why. And the wifi works great, goes on line immediately and stays connected, even has an option to allow u to view webpages in a colum so u don;t have to scroll back and forth. The buttons are too small though, like for a child's fingers, not an adults fingers, but i still think its a great phone in many ways, i don;t believe at this time there is a better smartphone with all of these options.

It is a nice smartphone but with a lot of problems:
                        1. batteries are empty in 2 days, 2. screen lightens just when you store the phone in your pocket even when you lock the buttons, 3.software is slow, 4. no acces to files (pdf, excel etc), 5. software instabile (many users in Holland facing this problem), 6. Helpdesk via India (you do not get answers on your questions)
Finally, it is a nice try by the i-mate company but the phone is technically not yet ready for sales. So if you can wait for the next version please wait and dont be so silly like me, owning a problem phone.

                        Best regards,

                        Marc

sp5 is far far better than sp5m. no question about it. sp5m sucks in comparison.

imate sp5 has much more elegant design in my opinion. no unneccessary buttons, all good and practical layout. too bad its out of stock in most shops

I was fully convinced to buy this cell previously, but now after reading comments from all of you i wish to ask some one or anyone who would guide me about sp5m.worth it or not. Even I have been using sp3i that was terribly pathetic and I had major lost of the money when I sold sp3i.

is very bad phone. keyboard is very small for numbers. and the media buttons are stupid. no need for them. is easy to see controls on screen and use joystick when playing media. why 4 dedicated buttons? very stupid cheap looking desing. i changed to sp5. much much much better but still only 1.3 mp camera. stupid.

The camera is mediocre. 1.3 mp is not that great. To get decent pictures, you need 4 mp or higher. I don't understand why these jackass companies keep coming out with 1.3 mp crap when we all know that samsung has announced 7 and 8 mp camera phones. WTF, put those goddam cameras (or at least a lousy 4mp unit) in your phones, for crying out loud!

Each year I buy an expensive phone and it is not quite up to the hype. The manufacturers need to stop trying to make these marginally improved phones, and develop a long term plan for the technologies they are going to have. Then they need to fill out their products with mature, high quality versions of these technologies.

I am done throwing money away at this crap and I am done ranting.

This phone sucks monkey balls. I hate it. It feels terrible to hold. And the bluetooth is for headphones only. It cannot be used to sync with your pc. For that, you have to use cable. The wifi is WEP only, no WPA.

Someone asked about a SIM manager. What the hell is that? What is there to manage on your SIM card? Tell me more about what you mean by SIM manager and I will tell you if you can do it on this crappy phone.
