Apple was forced to adopt by the EU trade commission to sell in Europe.
If I was Apple, I'd rather keep the lightning port for global market outside the EU countries.
If the matter is that they want your money, then all companies want your money as well. Some of them even want to chain your money locked to them only, and several of them want your money stays flowing to them even after you die.

Sam N8 808 owner, 29 Apr 2024Mocking others won't help, when you suddenly realise t... moreIve said, some products need them, ive mutliple times said that for photographers and people in those sectors need them and have been saying this for about 2 years atleast i think, like you say for drones and very "NICHE" products/very spefic product stacks so you have completely proven you're completely ignorant and ignore infomation to suite your needs (which is why i wrote a detailed factual statement about the type C port that you clearly seem to be ignoring)
Mobile phones do not need a dedicated jack or slot when THE USB PORT IS A HEADPHONE JACK AND FOR PORTABLE DATA, you can wirelessly use a phone to control security cameras and drones now and sony implements wireless tech in their cameras so even they are making these redundant, they havent for about 10 years now and i should know, i went from the 90s and 00s of using micro sd and jack port every day of my life to not ever needing them now and i promise you i use my phone far more intensively than 95% of people on this site from creating music with actual instruments, storing all my data, doing worksheets and using Microsoft office, my main driver for entertainment from gaming to video streaming in HDR to high quality music, USING MY USB PORT AS A JACK FOR ANALOG SIGNAL, with my current overhead, BT, headphones that ive been using since 2019. Again ignore this infomation right?
They havent removed an obsolete port or slot that ONLY works with a card or aux cable, they moved it to the UNIVERSAL PORT (you know, the word in USB) for efficiency for the end user, less things to go wrong, less chance of broken multiple ports, better body strength/rigidity, better internal part placement/cooling solutions.
Also yes, laptops and desktop PCs have them because A, they have more room too for one, and things like DLSR cameras are generally for enthusiasts who have a lot of money (i have friends who buy £2k mirrorless cams and £5k full sound setups with £1500 headphones and £1200 DACs and amps with £4k PCs so you're talking to the wrong person about this like you know more, you don't). Also my grandad back in the 60s used to work on computers when you had to literally walk in to a room which was the computer to fix things, my dad in the 80s was building PCs and doing illegal connections through phonelines to america so again, i know FAR more about tech than yourself at this point. Also another fact, i used to build and tinker with PCs in the 2010s, with extreme overclocking and changing timeing values on my gpu and cpu so i very much understand what ports a PC has thank you.
Even my exs 5 year old son understood more complex infomation than this and he was autistic. Is it really this hard or is everyone a "homer"? Im going to go speak to a wall, have a more intelligent conversations, keep ignoring the usb port is a headphone jack which i use as a headphone jack, get a cheaper ssd and save yourself brainpower and money and flexibility with intergrating it with other tech, makes life way easier.
Again to reiterate, the type C port IS a headphone jack, not an opinion its factual infomation.

Anonymous, 29 Apr 2024Wrong! This does not have both & gsmarena should edit/u... moreI think I know what happened... Probably, GSMArena copied the spec sheet directly from GT10 Pro, assuming GT20 Pro to be a proper upgrade in every matter.
And how shameful that we have an official esports mascot phone without 3.5mm jack. Bluetooth delays, and that USB-C can be used for charging, cooling and other gaming purposes...
The question still remains: Which Illuminati's orders is the mobile industry following so blindly? That they now sabotage their gaming device?!

Mobile phone industry is influenced by "forces" beyond your little understanding, so there's no point if I write an essay here.

fureo8, 29 Apr 2024What we meant by audio jack is 3.5mm port ya... The device ... moreFun fact, apple and intel developed the USB C connector, in 2012, yet for some reason apple were the last to fully adopt it, oh yeah because they want YOUR MONEY!!!
(needing 3 different connectors for their phones and other devices before they FINALLY adopted it with their phones, because they were forced too, just like being late adopters of their own screen tech (LTPO), shows you how much apple really cares.)
Ive been using wireless overhead headphones for literally 7 years now and the tech has only gotten better, im glad you're the device (im guessing you meant the phone), tbf its something different in the sea of mainstream boredom now, i dont like the flatness (makes screen more susceptible to shattering and more uncomfortable to hold but hey ho) but it has some actual flair, these companies need the spotlight more.

Anonymous, 29 Apr 2024Doesn't matter. The type c port is still not the same ... moreYes it is, it does the exact same job. USB C supports analogue signal so it works THE EXACT SAME WAY, just a different shaped port. I really dont get how this is so hard to understand or are people on here really this dense (or so stubborn and set in their ways they are ignorant to the fact?).
"Audio Adapter Accessory Mode"
"In this mode, all digital circuits are disconnected from the connector, and certain pins become reassigned for analog outputs or inputs. The mode, if supported, is entered when both CC (configuration channel) pins are shorted to GND. (GND- These are the 4 pins on the outermost edges of the plug and the receptacle. They act as ground lines, or a return path for transferred signals. They also ensure good contact throughout the length of the USB connection.)
D− and D+ become audio output left L and right R, respectively. The SBU pins (sideband use) become a microphone pin (MIC), and the analog ground AGND (pins that allow analog passthrough), the latter being a return path for both outputs and the microphone."
To put it simply, the pins in a usb C connector become whatever you essentially need them to be as long as the device they are connecting to support it, so a usb C port BECOMES a" headphone jack" when that device needs it to be.
I hope this ends" no jack, no slot, no buy" because the USB C port does these jobs which is why i say get a portable ssd, itll transfer data quicker and will be cheaper or either use a type C cable if your headphones allow the data to be passed through it directly, if not, get/use a dongle (which most companies im sure supply, stop buying crap like samsung, apple and sony phones and falling for the "samsung on deal all the time and cheaper even though they charge you for the extra £100 of accessories other brands give you WITH THE DEVICE, FOR FREE).
