Infinix Hot 50 Pro+ 4G review
Design, build quality, handling
The design is definitely the highlight of the Infinix Hot 50 Pro+ 4G. It is a stylish-looking phone. It is slick and very slim all around, with a thickness of just 6.8 mm and pretty aggressively curved edges. It sits very comfortably in the hand.
The Hot 50 Pro+ is feather-weight, too, tipping the scale at just 162 grams. That's impressive, given the big 6.78-inch display and the substantial 5,000 mAh battery.
Of course, like any modern phone, the backside is the most exciting bit of the design. The camera island stands out in particular. The two-stage chamfering with serration is not something you see that often. It's all made of plastic, but it still gives off the impression of metal.
The back panel on the Hot 50 Pro+ 4G comes in several colors and finishes. The Sleek Black, Titanium Grey and Dreamy Purple apparently can all be had in either a matte or a glossy version. However, finding listings for said variants is proving to be quite hard. Our review unit is a later release - Blossom Pink, which is made of faux "vegan" leather.
We like the material very much. It has a fine texture and three whole shades of pink, intertwining in a geometrical pattern.
The middle frame pulls off a brushed aluminum look quite convincingly, at least from a distance.
The Hot 50 Pro+ achieves its fancy looks with a surprisingly affordable bill of materials. Most of the phone is made of plastic. Still, it feels solid with practically no flex or hollowness, which is commendable. Also, there is some kind of Corning Gorilla Glass protecting the display. Infinix doesn't say exactly what kind.
Unfortunately, the phone only has a basic IP54 ingress protection rating. You had better keep it away from the elements as best you could.
Nothing stands out in particular when it comes to controls. The power button and volume rocker are well-positioned height-wise. They offer good tactile feedback but are pretty thin, making pressing them a bit difficult.
Perhaps rather surprisingly, given its budget nature, the Hot 50 Pro+ has a stereo speaker setup with two dedicated speakers. One on the bottom and one on the top of the phone. Symmetrical, just the way we like it.
Again, despite its fairly budget nature, the Hot 50 Pro+ 4G has quite reasonably sized display bezels. There is nothing really visible above the display. The earpiece and all of the sensors are well hidden. Those are, in fact, under the display.
Speaking of under the display, there is a fingerprint reader. It is of the usual optical variety. We found it to be both snappy and accurate.

Transsion's software and software support have always been two of their weakest points. They probably don't invest much in the software side of things so they can sell their devices for cheaper than most of the competition. As much as ...

If they can't provide decent updates for this phone (since it doesn't have anything to write home about beyond the light weight), it deserves a US$150 price, but not more, if you count the bloatware and inconsistent software in Transsion ph...

I'd rather get the iQOO Z9x than this. https://m.gsmarena.com/vivo_iqoo_z9x-12958.php 5G, 6000mAh battery, SD 6 Gen 1, flat display, 3.5mm jack, and it's just 154 EUR in my country. Almost a no-brainer pick at that price.
