Instagram bumps up security, rolls out two-factor authentication feature

Himanshu, 17 February, 2016

Instagram has confirmed that it has started rolling out the the two-factor authentication feature. The confirmation came after users of the mobile photo-sharing service reportedly spotted the feature in testing.

As you might expect, the feature adds an extra layer of security to your Instagram account by sending an authentication code to the verified phone number associated with the account. The code is required to be entered alongside the regular username/password combo for a successful login.

This comes shortly after the Facebook-owned company rolled out a feature aimed at displaying view counts for videos. Prior to that, support for multiple accounts was rolled out.
