iPadOS 17 gains customizable Lock Screen, Health app

Apple unveiled the iPadOS 17 at WWDC today and will push the beta out to developers immediately, pending a public beta next month, and a Fall release to the masses.

The new iPadOS 17 gains the customizable Lock Screen, which premiered last year with iOS 16, giving users the option to customize the wallpaper, choose different widgets, and play around with font styles.

The Lock Screen will also now support live activities widgets - a food order, travel plans, or game results.

Apple promised to improve Stage Manager - the feature that allows users to open multiple app windows at once - with better flexibility on window resizing and positioning.

Apple finally brought the Health app over to the iPad and it leverages the larger canvas to display your health data in a more comprehensive way.

The iPad will also benefit from the improvements to Find My, courtesy of iOS 17, as well as the new Journal app.

Apple focused on PDFs through the Notes app. Using machine learning models, the Notes app will be able to identify fields in a PDF to help with annotation using Apple Pencil. Apple software boss Craig Federighi said that iPadOS 17 will bring new ways to organize, annotate, and collaborate on PDFs in the Notes app.
