iPhone 15 Pro dummy shows tweaks to the button layout

The upcoming iPhone 15 Pro duo is rumored to have titanium frames instead of stainless steel. Also, reports claim that the Pro models will switch to solid-state buttons, similar to what happened to the Home key of iPhones of old.

Someone got their hands on an iPhone 15 Pro dummy unit, which shows a slightly different button layout from the 14 series. The Volume rocker is now longer, perhaps to make it easier to use now that it’s not an actual rocker.

How will the Ring/Silent switch work when you can’t actually move the switch? It won’t, Apple will apparently replace it with an “Action button” inspired by the Apple Watch Ultra. This new button can be seen above the volume rocker.

Below that is the SIM card tray, but who knows how many regions will have that option – Apple already moved to eSIM-only for US iPhone 14 units. One thing that is certainly changing is the removal of the Lightning port in favor of USB-C. All models will get the new port, though only the Pros will offer a high speed connection (UFS 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3), according to Ming-Chi Kuo.
