Is HTC readying an international version of T-Mobile's myTouch 4G?

09 May, 2011

The T-Mobile myTouch 4G has barely gotten any attention outside the US but rumor has it that HTC has plans to release an identical model outside the States, with the UK being eyed as the most likely target.

The specs for the international model are expected to be the same as those on the T-Mobile myTouch 4G (which was codenamed Glacier). The highlights are a 1GHz Snapdragon (single core) running Android, 768MB RAM, 3.8” WVGA screen and 5MP camera with 720p video recording.

A render (which is supposedly quite recent) shows a phone very much like the myTouch 4G sans any branding. The characteristic keys are still there though.

The UK is mentioned as the likely first stop of the international version of the myTouch 4G but there’s nothing on what countries should expect it next. Nothing on carriers either – unlike its T-Mobile USA sibling (which uses the AWS 3G band) however, this new model should have no problem working on all European GSM carriers.

By the way, the “4G” label is T-Mobile US speak for HSPA – so no LTE or WiMAX here.
