Itel launches the Power 70: a budget-friendly phone with a big battery

Victor, 01 March 2025

The Itel Power 70 looks like a pretty nice overall package. First, let's tackle its claim to fame – the battery capacity. The phone has a pretty big but reasonably sized 6,000 mAh onboard battery. That allows it to maintain sensible proportions, measuring 165.92 x 77.31 x 7.98 mm and tipping the scale at 200 grams. The "trick" here is the additional 4,000 mAh charging case that Itel is throwing in as a launch gift with the phone. This extends the total battery capacity to 10,000 mAh (not counting charging loss). The Power 70 does not support wireless charging, so the case has to connect up to the phone's Type-C port and make use of its 18W wired charging capabilities.

Speaking of price, the Itel Power 70, including the charging case, will cost under $85. That's quite a bargain price. Of course, you can't expect amazing hardware for this price, but at least on paper, the Power 70 looks well-rounded. It has a 6.67-inch HD+, 120Hz LCD with a peak brightness of 700 nits. Itel calls it a "Sunlight Display," claiming that it should be good even in direct sunlight. We have our doubts. Itel also says that the display "supports wet and oily touch control".

The rest of the specs include a MediaTek Helio G50 Ultimate chipset. It is paired with up to 8GB of RAM. The available storage options are 4GB/128GB, 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB, 4GB/256GB, 8GB/256GB. The storage is, unfortunately, eMMC 5.1, but at least it is expandable via a microSD card.

The camera department includes a single 13MP rear camera and a single 8MP selfie camera. Video capture is expectedly limited to 1080p. You also get two Nano-SIM slots, a single loudspeaker, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. Unfortunately, there is no NFC.

As mentioned, the Power 70 costs around $85, including the charging case. Though that might just be a launch gift, we aren't sure. You can choose from black, silver, marine and gold colors.
