FreedomSeeker, 27 Dec 2025Jolla Phone is not about high-end hardware or custom ROM... moreC2 is laggy and a relicve in terms of hardware….you call that a phone, who uses LCD and 12 nm chipsets after 2020?? I get it that the OS is bloatware free and you have full control and privacy but a good phone needs a little bit of everything. So for 600€ I am curious what they will provide….you can help them, they ask for €100 for crowdfunding and the specs list include a Mediatek chipset, probably depending on the budget they will use one from 2 years ago or one from 2019 😂😂😂. I was tempted, but after seeing multiple videos on YouTube and reading comments from people that gave their money for the Jolla tablet and got nothing back…..don’t trust them.
Waiting for them to lunch the thing and see reviews, who knows, maybe it’s good.

Having the ability to use ADB is a lifesaver compared to the lack of it, as seen on Knox-protected Samsungs and the variety of other brands' offerings.
My impression of Nothing came from grey imports of the CMF devices and the Nothing Phone 3 series specifically, as the 2a and earlier devices were not grey imported here due to regulations at the time. So yes, the mileage can vary from region to region, and it's the brand's decision to impose whatever they want on consumers.
And I don't think a range of 15-18 months is too "soon" to be judged, mainly due to planned obsolescence of smartphones that's soaring than ever.

My brother has nothing phone 2a and received OS4. He does not experience any ad, and as far as i can see, nobody complains about ads for the moment. If they will preinstall some sort of bloatware in their future devices, they will probably make them uninstallable, so is not that big of a deal.
By the way, hmd skyline also comes with some bloatware, and facebook cannot be uninstalled but only with adb.
I would not badly judge everything so soon😉.

Their review units don't accurately reflect the user experience, as all Nothing devices sent for review are units before the official launch, which is the same strategy used by BBK's brands. The same applies to their selection of specifications, alongside their ODMs.
Besides, AOSP devices (HMD/Nokia, Fairphone) are provided with recommended apps, which are not installed unless the user installs from that notification. For example, my parents' Nokia C32 devices had Facebook, GoPro Quik, LinkedIn and Netflix included in the recommended apps, and all except the Facebook app weren't installed. Nothing on the other hand, is comparable to Vivo during December 2020 to April 2021 and Motorola between 2021 and 2023 with the same strategy of stock Android, paired with intrusive ads and bloatware.

Of course i have to try this out. I order one to se how it works, and if its good i will recomend it for al folks I know. I read about jolla and find that the most people are happy with it even with much less power compare to the Jolla 5g. it seems that battery life is also good in the old ones with small batterys. This could be realy interesting!

Jolla Phone is not about high-end hardware or custom ROM's, it's about FREEDOM and INDEPENDENCY from big tech out of the box! If the JP has decent specs, especially the cam which was appalling in C2, and the SF5 UI is snappy and manageable, I would absolutely buy one of these!

Anonymous, 09 Dec 2025Looks as a 100$ straight.Which 100 Euro device has 12 GB of RAM nowadays, is not a Android based but real Linux based (not spying on you and selling your data all around), produced and developed in Europe with user changeable battery, easy to repair and decent specs all around?
I'd be very happy to hear about that one.

NormanOz, 09 Dec 2025What in the 2019 phone design is going on hereIt is called a smartphone which is repairable, has a userreplaceable battery, an Linux based operation system and a competetitor to Android and iOS from Europe, assembled and developed by a European company with data protection in mind.
If you do not want or need that, you are very much free to buy one of the 50 other options without any kind of distinguishable character but all the data breaches and spying you can wish for (hardware like software vise)

Highlander1978, 08 Dec 2025fairphone 6 is so much better for the same moneyInteresting. You do not even know what is in it, never used SailfishOS and still do say that. Please let me know why you think it is.
Is it the smaller Amount of RAM the Fairphone 6 has? Is it the Android you get there, which spies on you and does not allow you to do what you want with your own hardware?
Hardware is pretty much equal to the Fairphone, which I do not find to be bad or anything... but I do not see where it should be that much "better" till now.
And this is about the software in this case, not so much the hardware, which seems to be decent.

What an amalgamation
-base iphone 16/17 camer... moreSorry but what the heck? This is about a privacy focused Linux phone, not a china phone which gets more money from your data sold to Google, chinese government and / or anybody who has the money without giving you even basic abillities of repair or using your smartphone like it is yours, not only rented for you to become a social media / services slave of the manufacturer.
If you are not willing to pay for that, that is fine, but it is a pretty good offer in the Linux space (very likely the best)

I prey for it to be good or at least contribute to linux phone possibility.
I hate the modern phone market so much. Everything is glistering with specs and fancy materials but ZERO control over what you do with your device. Want to unlock bootloader? - fk you! Want to get rid of google? - fk you! And let's just shove ai in everyones ars3 so they can't get it out.

I like the effort and all, but if it wants to run its own ecosystem, then not a chance.
Something like the Librem 5 would work, though I'm not sure how it is doing these days.

We are in dire need of a better smartphone OS that concentrates on privacy and ethics. I might consider this, but why the huge notch up there? They should really rethink the design, and get out of the apple world. This should be an anti-apple-google device, so it should behave like one and look like one. Something Nothing would do in colaboration with Nokia, that would be the s...
Anyway, i use macrodroid a lot, will this device support it? Kind of doubt, as this is not android at the end of the day. Hope that automation apps devs consider this as a new OS, would be the only thing i need.
