Kuo: Apple’s M2-powered 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros to start production in Q4 2022

Enrique, 23 August 2022

In an update tweeted by Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, new MacBook Pro models will enter mass production in Q4 of 2022 and new M2 Pro chip may end up using 5nm process despite contradicting reports.

Apple’s M-chips are manufactured by TSMC, but the chip maker’s guidance doesn’t accord for revenue for 3nm chips until the first half of 2023. Since Apple’s new MacBooks are expected to arrive sometime in Q1, the timing does not line up with previous reports and rumors about Apple’s M2 Pro chip being built on the 3nm process.

Kuo’s findings align with previous reports claiming the M2 Pro chips would begin production later this year.
