Kuo: Next-gen HomePod coming in 2024 with 7-inch display
Ming-Chi Kuo delivered his latest report on the upcoming Apple HomePod set to launch in the first half of 2024. The device will reportedly feature a 7-inch display panel and is marked as a big shift in Cupertino’s smart home strategy. The new display will allow for more functionality from the smart home device and deeper integration within Apple’s ecosystem of devices.
Tianma Microelectronics is cited as the exclusive supplier of display panels for the next-generation HomePod. Kuo also mentions that Tianma might receive display orders for Apple iPads in the future. Rumors from last year also talked about Apple’s plans to launch a tvOS running HomePod. The rumored device would also bring FaceTime capabilities via a built-in camera on top of functioning as a smart home speaker.

Smart speakers are a line of devices I will never comprehend. Completely useless in my opinion.

Seems a bit pointless when most people already have (or at least access to) smart TV's, smartphones or tablets, most of which have larger displays, and tablets and smartphones allow you to freely walk around untethered by a power cable...

This could be pretty cool if affordable, universal, and practical.....
