Kuo:Apple's AR/MR headset to boost entire VR industry
Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is confident that Apple's highly-anticipated AR/VR headset will be unveiled at June's WWDC. He notes that Apple is 'well prepared to release' the new device.
He also notes that the headset's release will greatly benefit Apple's supply chain partners, boosting the entire VR industry. The more expensive bits of an AR/VR headset are the assembly (a Luxshare exclusive), the micro OLED display (exclusive to Sony), the dual processor (exclusive to TSMC), the chassis (mostly supplied by Everwin Precision), the 12 camera modules (exclusive to Cowell Electronics), and the external power supply by Goertek. Kuo notes that Cowell Electronics will benefit most, since it has fewest other clients.
If Apple's AR/VR headset launch is successful, Kuo notes, it could become the most important new investment trend in consumer electronics.
