Panther G, 23 Mar 2024Unisoc T616 on a budget phone? It's truly a banger for... moreMtk G85 performs better in GPU than Unisoc T616 but it lacks in storage type ( Emmc vs UFS). G85 is not a bad processer. T616 comes nearly equal due to storage type not by the GPU.

DarlingYext, 07 Jun 2024Hey! I remember you, nice to see ya again! "I know ... moreI used a T606 phone for a few weeks (HMD Pulse Pro). It was actually not the worst experience. Apps open up quickly and the phone does try its best to keep up with the 90Hz refresh rate. However the UI does feel sluggish - competition is better at that aspect, like my cousin's Redmi Note 12 with Snapdragon 685. That is also a really weak SoC to the point that Xiaomi had to disable UI animations but it's a smoother experience and it has 120Hz for some reason

"I know you are a phone collector so please, if you can, buy your self a phone with T606 chip and try to work with it only for basics like phone calls and socials for at least 2 weeks.."
I mean, I don't think I could personally, I'm used to the lag-free experience that anything between an SD 855+ and an SD 8+ Gen 1 can give me. I haven't used anything newer than the 8+ Gen 1. Either way, at prices this low, Unisoc is the best one can get, certainly not the likes of Helio G35/36/37.

Now do that against Redmi 9 and its older MT6769Z against this Unisoc's "low-end" chip.
Thank you.
Finally someone recognizing the true power of Unisoc chipsets.
It's a sarcasm lol.
Sure, the guy was wrong when he tried to compare uncomparable but he's got a point. That chipset is weak even for the most basic daily operations.
I know you are a phone collector so please, if you can, buy your self a phone with T606 chip and try to work with it only for basics like phone calls and socials for at least 2 weeks and then let me know about your experience with phone.
My grandmother use to have a Redmi Note 9 with MT6769Z chispet a.k.a. Mediatek G85 which was also older than the T606 and stronger even if not by a lot but still..
I know older people have a tendency to press on anything, sometimes that's not intentionnal, sometimes they just don't understand what to do so it's possible that grandma's daily routines with a phone somehow slowed him down and maybe it would happend anyway, but every here and then i was helping her with her phone and try to clear some things from her phone so it can be more responsive. It was so slow...
I am not a power user at all. Buy really... It was so buggy and slow. At least for me.
Interestingly enough my grandma did not Have issues with it even with that performance, she didn't wanted a new phone until she accidentally broke the screen and only then she was forced to get another.
It seems this fellow from Lava is meant for elders and even with that crappy chipset it can be a good buy. For some.

G35 may perform a little bit better than P22 and A22. those kind of chips aren't designed to run newer android than android 10 anyway.

motylek, 24 Mar 2024I know whats a entry level device, but is that a joke? Not-... moreI've never seen such nonsense, but after you started comparing this to phones powered by the MT6580, it truly became obvious that you have no clue what you are talking about.
https://nanoreview.net/en/soc-compare/unisoc-tiger-t616-vs-mediatek-mt6580
Well first of all, you mentioned the age of these chipsets.. yeah the MT6580 is 5 years older than the T616, and it's from early 2016. The Unisoc however is from 2021, so it's already way more modern. Then there is the transistor size, the T616 is a 12nm chipset, while the MT6580 is 28nm, that is an insane difference and means way better battery life. So about connectivity, at this price point I think we should forget about 5G, but with the MT6580 you have to forget about 4G as well, there is also Bluetooth 5, instead of 4.1 on the newer SoC, and faster Wi-Fi. RAM and storage are also very different, LPDDR3 on the Mediatek, while LPDDR4X on the Unisoc, maximum RAM is 2GB versus 12GB, eMMC 5.0 storage vs UFS 2.2 storage, so no the performance of these two chipsets isn't close at all.

I know whats a entry level device, but is that a joke? Not-so new android put on old hardware, you can compare it with putting Android 13 + Google Apps on a Sony Xperia SP (it struggles with gapps even on android 8). Battery and display is big, to fool people, same applies with the camera, 50MP, it probably takes shit photos, no OIS or anything, the second lens is useless. Even the 8/128 won't help. The CPU is shit. MT6580 has similiar performance to this. If you need a cheap phone i recommend getting a older flagship. For example: Xiaomi Mi 9, Xiaomi Mi 10, Xiaomi Mi 11, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S20, etc. You can buy older flagship androids really cheap, where iPhone 11 is still expensive 💀
