Leak frenzy goes on: Samsung S5050, Fluxus, Pilar and Scotney
Another day another Samsung leak or so it has been recently on our homepage. Three new faces appeared today and another one is getting close to official announcement. The new names are Samsung Fluxus, Pilar and Scotney and are all scheduled for AT&T, hitting in the entry and mid-range segment.
Rumors of the Samsung S5050 have been floating around for a few months now but considering the amount of specs that just got revealed it should be announced any moment now.
One of the more interesting offerings, Samsung S5050 will sport a 3.2 megapixel camera and touch-sensitive keys below the display. It will be the first mid-range handset to feature a 2.2" QVGA 262K color AMOLED display.
Some of the other features of the device include LED flash, microSD slot, FM radio with RDS as well as Bluetooth and USB 2.0 connectivity. The internal memory is 50 MB, expandable through the microSD card slot. The bad news is that the handset has no 3G, relying only on GPRS and EDGE for its network data transfers.
The Samsung S5050 will start shipping in the summer with an estimated retail price of about 170 euro (235 US dollars).
The handset codenamed, Samsung Fluxus is topping the freshmen as far as specs are concerned. Don't set your hopes too high though as the best it can offer is 3G with HSDPA, GPS and a 2.6" WQVGA display. Not that it sounds bad but the Fluxus is certainly no Omnia HD.
Samsung Fluxus will also sport a 2 megapixel camera and a microSD card slot. The usual connectivity suspects - Bluetooth and USB are also onboard.
Samsung A247 Pilar is a low-end offering that according top the leaked slide should have already hit the shelves. However for some unknown reason the mass-market slider is delayed (or maybe even canceled). Should it still somehow make it to the market it will offer a VGA camera and a 2" 128x160 pixel screen. EDGE and Bluetooth will also be on board but as you probably guessed by yourselves no 3G.
Samsung Scotney completes the list, sporting a 2.2" QCIF display and a fixed focus 2 megapixel camera. Its other highlight features are dual-band 3G, aGPS, USB and Bluetooth.
The Samsung Scotney should be available in the middle of September but its retail price is yet to be disclosed.
