Leaked images show an AeroActive Portal on the Asus ROG Phone 7 Pro

The launch of the next generation Asus ROG Phone series is almost upon us, it is scheduled for April 13 (this Thursday). The design of the phone was already seen in photos by the Taiwanese wireless authority, but now Evan Blass has found official looking renders of the two upcoming models.

Yes, two models: Asus ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7 Pro. Both will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, there is no word on a Dimensity version yet. The new Pro model does borrow a feature from the 6D Ultimate from last year, the AeroAtive Portal.

The Portal is a flap that opens up to give the AeroActive Cooler a more direct access to the chipset’s heatsink. As we reported in our review of the ROG 6D Ultimate, the Cooler and Portal do make a huge difference in sustained performance.

Only the Asus ROG Phone 7 Pro has the portal judging by these images. Also, traditionally it is also the only one with a secondary display on the back (the vanilla version should have some RGB lighting).

Asus is preparing a first-party case and screen protector for the phones – the DEVILCASE was also available for the ROG Phone 6, as was the screen protector.

Based on the photos from Taiwan’s National Communications Commission, the ROG phones will have 6,000mAh batteries with 65W fast charging (20V at 3.25A). Rumors we’ve heard suggest that the phones will have 6.8” FHD+ 165Hz AMOLED displays and the usual 50+13+5MP cameras (the last module being a macro cam). We will get the official details on Thursday.

true coming from my rog 6. rm8 design and not relying on a clunky cooler is better (had a bad exp as well with the FINGER PRINT/CAMERA not working after a few months on the ROG 6)

So it loses water resistance ipx4 rating? Not that it matters, the red magic 8 seems better hardwarewise
