Really tempted to buy this, but I'm going to use it for emulation, so I might as well wait for the 2026 model with the much stronger snapdragon 8 elite...
Hope they'd switch to an oled display and give us back the Micro sd card slot for the next update.

i'm kinda tempted to buy this tab as it cost $550 in my country. i want to use it as my personal and work tablet. I'll use it to open my cad viewer, sketchup viewer, microsoft onedrive/gdrive docs to encode. at the same i'll use it as my gaming tab since it can be equipped with a game controller for my gaming - geforce now, steam link, genshin impact, and wuthering waves. currently using 2 tab - poco pad and tab a9. i prefer 8.8" tablet as my daily carry to construction site. these 2 tabs are so bad when it comes to gaming, poco pad w/ keyboard good for my work but too large to carry daily.

sometimes i think of buying a foldable phone if i were to upgrade my current phone oneplus 12. dunno what to do, been contemplating for a week now. my mind rn is so messed up. i don't want to buy another gadget and another gadget. i 1st bought poco pad then tab a9 and the will be planning to buy this y700 since it has all i need. or maybe sell off all gadgets and buy a foldable phone. so fck rn.

This is tablet targets a very specific niche - gaming but bang for the buck. (Though, every refresh creeps up in price due to how expensive flagship chips are). So what you get with it is good screen, good SoC and battery bypass so that you can actually play the thing without caring about heat or remaining charge.

If it had a massive battery and an active cooling it'd be competing in actual premium segment at a much higher price.

So many compromises this generation just to give us an actual Flagship SOC.... Idk why they got rid of so many features just for power.... Battery is still too small even if there's a more powerful chip i imagein it would burn thru it quicker... I would not mind if tablets got thicker I recently got a redmi pad pro & the thinness bends certain part of the aluminum chassis. Unless you have a stronger alloy just make them thicker so you can stick more batteries in them... It would also improve cooling and IO support.... I also dont understand why the bezzles needed to get bigger, I dont mind it, probably makes it even better to hold in hand but they also removed the SD card slot so idk why it was necessary to make it wider. I want to like this but theres so many compromises.... I really wish ASUS would also get back into the tablet game... The ROG phones are so good and if Lenovo is playing ball in this segment Asus ought to as well...

Many apps can be access on the browser and its like desktop performance. I rarely use Google account other than youtube and there is alternatives for office like WPS. I am currently on Huawei Mate Pad 11.5 with SD7 Gen 1 typing this. I use this as my main device like PC since its fast and very low power.

Email I use Tuta and Naver. I have access to Fairmail for Gmail and Yandex. Youtube its obviously better on Brave. Netflix is trash because there forcing us using free alternatives with limitation. Like Rossman said. I have very powerful PC why cant use it to stream 4k. MX Player is way better experiece.

Are they making the bezels bigger and bigger? I really liked the OG Y700 for its thin bezels.

Import it from the UK or Japan. The UK has typically cheaper prices since you can order it directly from Lenovo, but you'll need to pay VAT and a forwarding service.

                                        >gsmarena are you sure this tablet have sd card support? didnt find any review mentioning this yet

This version lacks SD card support, I think this was one of the features cut to maintain cost.

                                        >Like for phone call. It has sim card, very useful when on travel with a temp sim.

No version of the Y700 has had cellular. They made support pages for the 2022 release having a cellular variant, but never released it anywhere. Chinese feedback has generally been something along the lines of, "Please add cellular so I can stop carrying my phone", so it's not like Lenovo is unaware of the desire.

                                        >But has limitations like I can't install paid apps, & no i don't want apks.

It doesn't. A friend of mine imported last year's Y700 and just runs the Chinese ROM. No issues. You can also do what I did and install a GSI rom with built in microG & play store if you're so scared that the Chinese tablet is running a Chinese release of the OS. You'd need to request root access from Lenovo, though, which is a manual process with a Lenovo engineer that has to sign your unlock key. Give them a valid reason (yes, wanting to install a GSI ROM is a valid reason) and they'll sign off on it. Be honest and earnest.

                                        >Also no gplay. Manual gplay chinese install opened box, ouch, it hurts... And about app compatibility then, on my alldocube already a few apps say 'cannot install on this device' even with apk.

This is the page for the 2024 Y700, though. Who cares about your other tablet? It's not even made by Lenovo. App compatibility even with the Chinese vendor-installed Google Play has been absolutely fine. Neither as a GSI ROM or as stock have we had issues with the Y700.

                                        > Looks heavey also, 350g. because of battery but still, Heavey for an 8 inch tablet.

My 2022 release is 375g and it's ever-so-slightly too much by the 2nd hour of holding it above my face. At 350g I'm sure it'd be fine. The 2023 and 2024 has a much better chamfer cut on the edges that makes it easier to hold as well.

Honestly, the iPad Mini feels like a toy by comparison. The screen flexes under pressure but the Y700 doesn't due to the internal supports cut into the frame. Apple is just relying on their motherboard and battery filling up enough space between the back of the aluminum and the front of the screen to keep it propped up, which is horrible.
