Longer charging heats it up more which causes the battery to degrade. Phones od overcharge if ur gonna do it every day. But also the 20-80 rule is also an important factor which will use more cycles to degrade battery.

First, mobile batteries are made of Lithium Ion/Poly which is not affected by overcharging. Lead storage batteries are prone to overcharge. Secondly, more/less every phone nowadays comes with an overcharge protection circuit which protects them...
