Android apps can be pirated too.
There are ways to install J2ME apps legally too.
And why would the companies care anyways? J2ME apps don't make money anymore, so it doesn't matter. Even if they did, the manufacturers wouldn't lose...

I will let you know if the box says the company brand, it will be network lock. If the box only says the LG brand, It is unlocked. But it can only be used by GSM supported devices. So....... Verizon network SIM cards do not work with this phone.
