                LG G Pad 8.3 over Ipad Mini 2:

                The best advantage of Androids especially G Pad 8.3 is that you can bump the memory to 16GB+64 GB(microSD) total and you can use any USB cable out there to charge or access your device. And btw, it is USD350 vs USD400 Ipad Mini 2 16GB.

                Another advantage of LG G Pad 8.3 is that it is narrower by almost a centimeter making it more handy pocketable.

                Ipad mini 2 over LG G Pad 8.3, one reason is that its 7.9" screen with a ratio of 4:3 is best for reading and multimedia. I don't understand why Androids do not use the same aspect ratio, rather they use 16:9 or 16:10-these will make their devices look much longer relative to its width, portrait mode is awkward. I compared the screen area of ipad mini vs LG G Pad 8.3, and the difference is just a sq. inch although G Pad 8.3 has longer screen diagonal, the reason is that it has aspect ratio of 16:10 compared to Ipad's 4:3.
                Difference = (10*16)(8.3^2)/356-(7.9^2)*0.6*0.8 = 1 sq . in.

                But ipad mini is a bit wider allowing you to see more view of a document in a portrait mode which the most comfortable for reading, since you can hold with one hand easil

                        LG G Pad 8.3 is far better than Samsung galaxy Note 8 especially there is no capacitive keys.

But it will certainly have a smaller screen and possibly lower resolution/ppi. The Kindle Fire HDX has impressive hardware, but you're stuck with Amazon's proprietary OS and app store. What good is that hardware if you don't even have access to Google Play? Considering actual direct competitors on the market right now (Nexus 7, Galaxy Note 8.0) $350 bucks for this device is pretty much right on point. Yes $300 would have made it more competitive, but $350 is in no way outrageous.

                                  It could have been perfect if it supports communication with LTE.

                                    USD299? , 18 Sep 2013Rumours has it that it will cost 'only' USD299. If its true... moreThis new tablet (LG G Pad 8.3) that has no track record whatsoever has been priced higher than the iPad Mini 2 and within $20 of the 8.9 inch Kindle Fire HDX (Snapdragon 800 vs. LG's SD 600 and 339 pixels per inch vs. LG's 273 ppi) in the U.S. As soon as I saw the G pad 8.3 $350 price tag I lost interest in this tablet. I don't know whether it was Best Buy or LG that made the pricing decision but at $350 they've lost their chance at being a real force in the U.S. tablet market. $299 would have been perfect.

                                        Goodluck with the 4600 mAh battery. Yes it is full HD but I guess that would drain the battery real fast. I bet 4-5 hours continuous video at 50% brightness since S60O isn't really power efficient. And if it is, the battery won't still be enough to power it long enough through the day. It's only 1400 mAh short of Note 3's battery. Going to wait for the iPad mini 2 or 2nd gen Galaxy Note 8. Performance isn't a real issue these days. Most companies have real tricks on that. Battery life is the one at the edge. A really power efficient CPU-GPU or a new battery technology are the one that needs looking into.
