LG does support update over the internet but GM200 is not supported yet.. Waiting for the version update to see if firmware is available in the net.

Videos and even texting can greatly reduce the battery backup. Using high volume levels also tend to reduce the backup. All in all, 1.5 - 2 days is the maximum that can be achieved.

        The problem is not with battery, its with the high resolution screen...320 X 240 pixels takes it toll on battery.
        It does manage to give 17-18 hrs of continuous music playback through headphones provided you dont use it during that time. If you turn flight mode ON it may give a bit more.

But even with the much costlier Philips SHH9700 earphones, my GM200 with sony MDR-ED12Lp earphones easiy beats 5130. But when I compared both of them with the same earphones, I found that the 5130 has a better tuned mid range than GM200. The vocals are a bit more distinct in 5130 that I do admit. Apart from that, I couldn't figure out much difference in the high and low frequency ranges. Both sounds close to natural to me. And with the added bonus of a superb battery backup, I can sacrifice a little audio quality. Its not a big deal as I know very well that GM200 is a better music phone than most phones in the same price segment or higher.

            Everyone who have doubts about 5130's cam quality visit the "5130 XpressMusic" community in orkut and look at the forum "pics taken with 5130". Even 5130 users are surprised with the quality of pics that are uploaded there. Its not the best 2MP cam, but its pretty good.

              Even a 50Rs chinese headphone can beat 5130 + OEM headset....its pathetic.

              But...how abt same headphone on both 5130 and gm200.
              The high audio quality claims of Nokia begins to show with good headphones...the OEM headsets are a joke and is a disgrace to the XpressMusic logo.
              There is no point in having the perfect audio output if your headphones can't reproduce what the phone is giving out.

              Same goes for gm200's headset...though better than 5130's headset its still not good enough...

              Thanks god both these awesome sets came with 3.5mm audio jack.

You should do absolutely nothing with it to actually get that kind of a backup.... The average backup of 5130 is 1.5 to a max of 2 days. Three days is quite hard for me to digest...

                  Nokia 5130 is claimed to have the best music quality in this segment but I'd say that my LG GM200 with my Sony MDR-ED12LP earphone beats any 5130 fair and square in terms of audio quality and output. Even when compared with the OEM earphones, my LG beats 5130 unless it's got the philips shh9700 earphones especially made for Xpress music phones. I'd suggest you get a pair of sony earphones with your GM200 so that it can beat any 5130 in terms of audio quality.
                  After all, what good is all that audio quality if you cannot reproduce that on a decent pair of earphones.

When we use s... moreThe message tone length in LG GM200 is 10 seconds... so anything below 10 seconds will ring for 10 seconds. But the interesting thing is that all the inbuilt ringer rings only once. I suggest you set any mp3 song as the message tone that way it will only ring once.

                      Anonymous, 24 Oct 2009hi nevin what r the changes u have discoverd after changing... moreI was told that there is not much difference in the upgraded frimware.. it is just a bug fix version but the changes i observed was that the java is improves and now supports games and applications morethan 500KB. also the sound quality has improved a bit and has more depth to it now.. The battery reading also has been corrected and now shows the exact reading.. the battery doesn't drain fast after the first block has gone down... the indication has now become uniform. don't know if this has improved my battery life but now i'm getting an average standby of 4 days with moderate usage.... I'm just waiting for a version update in the firmware.

                        i don't know why LG give GM200 such a ugly Soul (body).
                        i brought it 2 weeks back and soon i start hating it becos of it's look. so some how i managed to change it with 5130. it doesn't has 2.1 doulby but well balanced and look expensive with big screen. i get 3days in full charge.

                        LOve to see this phone in 5130 body

                            Any one knows about SMS tone in GM 200.

                            When we use small "9 kpbs" size "msg tone". It plays thrice for a single msg.

                            Is there any solution???

                                  Picture quality: Although GM 200 and Nokia 5130 have
                                  same 2 MP Camera .But GM 200 picture quality is good.

                                  Nokia 5130: It support Software and games better than GM 200.
                                  multi programming possible in 5130 .but not in GM 200.

                                  So IF SOUND AND PICTURE : GM 200
                                  IF SOFTWARE AND GAMES : NOKIA 5130

                                    that we can buy a phone like LG GM200 for just 5300 - 6000 rs./.

                                    Because i claim that there is no such a mobile with high quality Sound and high clarity sound FM Recording like GM 200 for just rs./. below 6000

GM200 is a simple but powerful music phone with all the necessary settings and superb audio quality. The backup is twice that of 5130 and the cam is also better with little noise even at low lighted conditions. Just go through the threads below so that you can make up your mind.
