Nevin Joseph, 18 Sep 2009Agrees wid namrata.... I'm not a person who hates nokia and... moreyeah..most havnt even seen gm200. And you cannot compare LG with Nokia. Nokias of this price range got S40 platform which is highly feature rich when compared with others.
5130 is better in almost all aspects except a few.
One of major differences being the availability of around 5000+ games, 2000+ applications and 150000+ themes for free download for 5130 from various sites.
Also i read somewhere it can store upto 25000 SMS.
According to gsmarena 5130 also has one of the best audio quality on mobile phone.
16Gb microSD card support confirmed by GSMarena and users and even nokia(indirectly).

5130 is amazing but, gm200 isn't bad either. Sure it cant match 5130 in features or in software but, it still got some unique features of its own like excellent loudspeakers and wireless FM.
BTW there are too many 5130s out there on the streets so it would be a good choice to go gm200.
You cant go wrong by picking any of these sets.

BTW whats the maximum capacity memory card that is supported by gm200(i knw spec sheet says 2gb). My bro has this set and wants to use higher capacity card than 2Gb.

namrata, 18 Sep 2009lg gm200 is d best ph i have ever usd nokia n all other bra... moreAgrees wid namrata.... I'm not a person who hates nokia and LG is not paying me to blab about their product. The only reason I'm writing this is because this is really a good phone. We all should learn to accept the truth and not go about misleading other people. The fact that Nokia 5130 is good doesn't make the GM200 a bad phone. Most ppl here that tell this phone is bad may not even have used one. They are simply making speculations thinking that this is just another dynamite. It is nothing like the dynamite series. Its more like a SE K750i. The UI is not as friendly as nokias but U will be able to overcome in a few days as u get used to it.

Anonymous, 17 Sep 2009yes have to agree with you there...the high popularity of 5... moreTo begin with, GM 200 is a true music phone. So battery back up would be da achilles heel here... a decent 10 hours of music playback would please most users. Large dispalys = low backup. So is it really necessary to have a huge display for a music phone. If that is a must, then go for a Symbian smart phone where it really comes in handy. As far as display sizes are concerned, the LG has a 2" dispaly while Nokia has a 2.1" display.I agree that camera is a flop. But this ain't a cybershot or N series which is way more pricey. Please dont compare the camera of 3150 and GM200 because we all know that both are a disaster. Then the next thing you would want to do with your music phone is show off your music collection with your friends and play it as loud as possible. I know some of my friends illegally modded their audio driver just to get max juice out of their speakers. The same is the case with 5130 which is still stuck with a mono speaker. Everything changes when it comes to GM200. 2 speakers and a woofer will surely grab the attention of any girlfriend. even at full volume, there is 'ZERO' distortion. Phone wont become slow or unresponsive even if the memory card is choked with data. I've compared both phones and what i observed is that 5130 may have a better audio quality which i personally couldnt differentiate but when it comes to audio output, GM200 definitely wins by a huge margin. Whats the point in having gr8 audio quality if you are unable to hear it clearly in a busy and noisy public place or a bus. More volume means faster battery discharge which in turn leads to poor battery backup. I wouldnt dare listen to songs @ max volume even if its noisy as hell. So considering these points relative to music capabilities, LG GM200 is a great 'MUSIC PHONE'. 5130 is a good phone too. it's just that it is not wise to compare these two on the same scale. I like nokia. 3110c used to be my favourite phone. A nokia will always be a nokia and an LG will always be an LG. the choice is left to the consumers and their needs. For active travelling ppl who needs lot of hours of music playback this is a wise choice without tearing out your pockets.

this fone only has a " loud sound " advantage. otherwise its a trash. the camera is pathetic... 2 mp of nokia is better & of motorola - it rox! check the camera of motorokr z6. thats what 2 mp means.other baklogs r.. no themes! cant change the icons ! dull menu.... the fon luks [appearence wise] xactly the same from the day u buy it till the last day u use it.!!! moreover its not application friendly like nokias n sony ericssons. better 2 spend the money on nokia 5130/ 7210/ 2700. but i'll tell that if u r really lookin for music fones.. w8 a little- save sum buks n go for nokia 5220/ 5310 xm. u wont be deceived! not 5130xm coz it looks a lot like a dummy. cheers

Nevin Joseph, 16 Sep 2009Well to say the least, the toughest competition for da GM20... moreyes have to agree with you there...the high popularity of 5130XM and the way 5130 has already outsold most of its higher price XMseries predecesors in such a short span is also coming against it in the form of chinese clones.

gm200 does have a better loudspeaker and battery backup. But, i think gm200 has a better battery backup because of its mediocre resolution screen. 5130 comes with 320X240 resolution and larger the number of pixels the more power it will drain.
5130 gives around 2 days backup with medium usage.

Oh and BTW i wouldn't go for cheap sony headphones even if they comes with 16mm driver units. They are nothing like their high end models..they suck when compared with similar priced philips or sennheiser headphones that have 9mm drivers.

The sound stage in philips are awesome. Do make a through research on the headphones you buy coz you would be spending a lot of money on them.

Well to say the least, the toughest competition for da GM200 is Nokia 5130XM. Just because LG has produced some pathetic phones in da past doesn't make it a bad manufacturer.... Everyone has been boasting about nokia this and nokia that. Just take your time and go through the user opinions in the nokia 5130 section. I'm sure this will give a clearer picture. Read it and then jump into a conclusion. Reading those reviews has given me the guts to say that by a very narrow margin, an LG is actually better than a Nokia. Atlest i didn't have to complain about bad battery backup due to cheap chinese clones. If everything's about 'Mine is bigger' then 2 speakers and a woofer that really works is better than a mono speaker. A battery that lasts a minimum of three days with rough usage would be better and to top it all... an anti theft mobile tracker with theft insurance wouldnt hurt us at all @ a price tag of 5570INR.

Dolby preset works well when listening through the speakers. It gives da sound a wider range of dispersion and also provides auto sound normalisation. this enhances audio quality through da speakers and you can start to feel all da 3 independent channels pumping out lots of raw power especially da woofer.
i'm not joking... you can actually fell da difference.
Still a lot to discover what's underneath this wonder of a phone...

                                  Problem solved....
If you encounter any firmware probs, get it upgraded at the nearest LG care centre. After the update, Goto settings-> Memory status and format the memory card. After that retransfer files.
I gurantee you da phone wont stall even if da memory is full 2 da brim. I'm using a 2gb transcend... got it almost full with 288 songs, almost 2 1/2 hours of video and about 70 wallpapers.

And it wont cost much. in addition, it is one of da cheapest earphones offering a 16mm driver (used in most of sony high end earphones). I know there are better ones in da market today. But this is a wise choice jus because of da fact that it is cheap while maintaining gr8 audio quality. So I'd recommend this earphones for both XM and GM 200.

If you listen to music for long hours, try not to go for plug in earphones.... It'll give u a headache after a while.

Use the same SONY or PHILIPS earphones with XMs and on gm200 the story changes...XM beats gm200 hands down.
XMs have improved a lot since the introduction of 5800XM and are now widely considered as the best music phones. Most of them even beats ipods and iphone 3G.
