LG GW520 and GT505 bring push social networking updates
If you've ever wanted to tinker with your online status while you are out and about, carrying a social networking portal in your pocket might just do the trick. Enter the latest LG phones meant to do just that, drawing inspiration from LG KS360.
With these phones LG try to bring high-end messaging features to a wider range of devices. Both phones offer push email via Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync but push updates from social networking sites are what makes them true descendants of the KS360.
The first phone, the GW520, starts where the KS360 left off and offers full touchscreen capabilities on a 2.8" screen and 7.2Mbps HSDPA. The camera got a slight bump to 3 megapixels and of course there's the slide-out QWERTY, which if its predecessor is any indication, should be quite nice.
The GW520 also features LG's LiveSquare, which shows your favorite contacts on the homescreen as animated characters, giving you quick access to them.
The second phone, called GT505, is less text messaging inclined and leans more towards being a travel companion. It features GPS and WisePilot navigation software that offers turn-by-turn voice-guided navigation. Unfortunately, the appication is only a 30-day trial version.
The LG GT505 trades the QWERTY for improved media capabilities - it has a 5MP camera and a bigger 3" screen. HSDPA runs slower at 3.6Mbps but Wi-Fi support makes up for that and comes in handy when you're away from your home computer but need access to the internet.
The two phones will be available in June - the GT505 will be Orange only, while the GW520 will be available on more networks, though we don't know which ones exactly. Pricing is not announced either.
