LG KM900 Arena comes with multi-touch and graphics chip

10 Feb, 2009

We have some good news for the future owners of the LG KM900 Arena. According to the company web site, the newly announced full touchscreen handset will support multi-touch input and will come with a dedicated graphics chip. Both features should have a very positive impact on the user experience the LG KM900 Arena provides.

In essence the multi-touch input means more user-friendly UI due to the easier input – you can have additional commands available on each screen. Have in mind though that the multi-touch will only be available for web browsing and picture viewing.

The dedicated graphics chip should provide faster and more responsive UI. With a demanding WVGA resolution screen on board it’s hardly a surprise that such a useful piece of hardware is present on the LG KM900 Arena.

The other LG KM900 Arena specs revealed today are its massive 8GB internal memory and the presence of a card slot on the device.

LG also revealed another interesting detail about the KM900 Arena - the process of developing the phone took the company no less than 100 man years! The number certainly sounds impressive, but will the final result be able to justify them?

In an increasingly competitive touchscreen market the S class UI (where S should stand for Superior) of the LG KM900 Arena will need something more than multi-touch to become a success. Who knows - it might actually have that extra bit in it. As usually the verdict will be passed once we acquire a unit for an in-depth review.

In case you have by any chance missed it or you need a quick memory refresh here are the rest of the LG KM900 Arena noteworthy features. Those include a 5-megapixel, capable of doing high-res video, HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity as well as a built-in GPS receiver. The handset will aslo offer the Dolby Mobile feature which promises "outstanding surround sound stereo".

LG KM900 Arena is expected to start its European expansion in March 2009 but the price tag is still unknown.
