AnonD-17990, 16 Aug 2011LG optimus 2 x is disappointing. No zooming for camera. Ext... moreI am returning mine. I have used aggressive counter measures to close apps it starts by itself and I still only get maybe 5 hours before I have to recharge and that is with minimum to no actual use of the thing. I miss business because the phone is somewhere else on a charger all the time. It has to have a battery pull about once a day because it doesn't like being on the charger longer than it needs to be, which is 2 or 3 times a day for around 3 hours. This makes me its tool, rather that it being a tool for me. It has cost me in time, money and aggravation. I also found that those who did manage to make it practical did so by voiding the warantee and using illegal batteries and rooting it and upgrading the software to an OS that is not available legally for this model in Canada yet. All in all, it is a profoundly bad move to get this phone. I will look for a Samsung or something which can run skype etc. and actually last a full day with stock equipment.

hmm.. im a bit confused right now.
which one shud i buy, the optimus
black or optimus 2x? ive read the
comments on both phones and found
that almost all of the comments on the
OB is positive ones, while on 2x all of
them commented on the battery life
for being very poor even for an
android smartphone. i was planning
to buy the 2x , but after reading the
comments on OB, i feel like buying it
instead of the 2x. i know the 2x has
better specs, but which one provides better price -to- performance ratio? Thanks in advance. :)

Firstly this is an excellent phone once you have updated to the 10B or 10C basebands, which corrects all power, gps and speed problems. Ive had the phone since May and im quitr pleased with all features of the phone-especially browsing, the camera, the gps (which is now fast to locate me), and wifi.
And for all those who complain the phone doesnt have flash, please stop, please stop. Either you cant read the specifications which clearly says LED flash or you're just trying to down the phone. The touchscreen is exceptionally responsive, I have never accidentally opened a program when i was trying to scroll; so it is well calibrated.
When GB is released, the true power of this phone will be seen. If you want a bit more speed and larger screen, you're free to buy the G2. If u want the almost the same functionality (very close actually) of the G2 at a fraction of the cost, O2X is your device. All on what you want.

Been using this phone for about a week now. I have not yet upgraded to gingerbread.
Battery use lasts about 8hrs for normal use which includes:
-2 hours of gaming
-1 hour of surfing
-30 min of talk time
-30 min text messaging
To get that time I disabled Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Lowered screen brightness to about 3/4, disabled GUI animations (except for the background), turned off vibrate.
The phone works great, I think the antenna is about average in terms of it's ability to capture a weak signal.
The GPS also works well, but is buggy. You have to enable the GPS and cycle the phone to get it to work. I'm expecting this to be fixed during the released patch.
The 8MP camera works great, similar to a regular 8MP camera. The LED flash also works well. I have not yet tried the HD video recorder.
The LED IPS LCD gorilla glass screen is of very good quality (sharp and bright), and has the right amount of responsiveness in terms of touch. The reflective nature of glass however is a slight drawback for use in those sunny areas (a general failing of using glass) however there's the added comfort of the gorilla hardened glass, which will resist from being scratched from some types of metal (hardness about 6).
The apps run faster than any phone I've compared it too, including similar apps on the iphone. It's actually almost twice as fast as the iphone 4.
I definitely recommend this phone over the Samsung Galaxy S2. It's about half the price with all of the functionality. Any remaining differences in my mind do not validate the extra $400 in cost.

I have purchased Otimus 2x 2 months back and following are the Pros and Cons
Cons:
1. Touch sensitivity is not good.
2. No dedicated music keys.
3. No Dedicated Camera button.
4. The piece dosen't seem to be fast enough even with its Dual core processor.
5. Pretty Heavy 138 gm
Pros:
1. Good Music quality
2. Battery last for more the 2 days if Advance task killer is installed from Android market...(it includes 24x7 internet and 10 songs a day)
3. Good Display and even under SUN, menu and apps are comfortably visible.
4. Spare parts are quite chep as compare to Samsung.
5. After sales service is simply awesome.
6. Much cheaper then Samsung Galaxy S2 when you know both the handset are almost the same match.
