LG Optimus 2X and Black go on pre-order in Germany, cost 500 EUR

30 January, 2011

The two latest and greatest LG smartphones just appeared on the German Amazon webpage. They are still on preorder and there’s no exact launch date mentioned, but at least we got the price confirmed.

Both the dual-core Optimus 2X (which will be called Optimus Speed in DE) and the NOVA screen-packing Optimus Black will initially retail for a cent under €500. The Optimus 2X will also come in brown, but that version is worth an extra €50.

Both handsets are listed as "Not yet available" and there’s no mention of a potential release date. LG promised that the Optimus 2X will come to Europe in January, but at this point it’s all but certain that the smartphone isn’t going to make it in time. We are hoping, though that the delay won’t be long and we’ll get to see it on the streets some time in February.

LG was far less specific about the Optimus Black and its excitingly sounding new display tech and only said that it should come in the first half of the year. Still this Amazon listing makes us hope that we won’t have to wait until June to see it in stores.

It's just simple principle in what you buy. I wouldn't buy a Ferrari with a Pinto exterior, would you?

No Nokia for me I am still regretting my decision on buying N97. What a lemon! I hope they go bankrupt.
