At some points yes
Black has nova display, 2mpx front cam, thinner and lighter body
2x regular lcd display, 1.3mpx front cam, thicker and heavier

Guys don't worry too much about the battery it's normal to android phones to drain battery quickly it is because of ram usage and multitasking etc., you can do these to prevent your battery from draining too much battery and keeping your phone alive for the rest of the day:
1.) always put your screen brightness to about 40% or less than that, larger screen consumes lots of energy so keeping your brightness as low as possible is important.
2.) turn off wifi and bluetooth if not in use. Wifi and bluetooth receivers also consumes a lot of battery.
Tip: add power control widget to home screen to manage your connectivities.
If you find it unpleasant to your homescreen just provide a dedicated
Homescreen for power management.
3.) dont use live wallpapers it drains your battery
4.) always keep your RAM high, because if your RAM gets low it consumes battery life faster, Multitasking is the main reason behind this.
Tips: download android task manager and use the widget on the homescreen to monitor
RAM. Kill all unused apps to free RAM, do this by clicking the android task manager and select all un needed apps and kill, another way to free RAM is by going to settings-applications-manage applications-running, when you reach the apps force stop all apps that you are not using, don't worry the app will not be deleted from your phone it will just stop its activity on that moment.
5.) don't put too much widgets on your homescreen, put only those useful ones.
6.) disable data access and 3g if you are not using it, it consumes not just the battery it also consumes your load,
6.) minimize your ring tones and message alert tones this will help conserve your battery
7.) set screen time out to 30 seconds
By doing these you will extended your battery life at a more considerable rate..

in local price where i'm living galaxy SL is more expensive than optimus black. SL cost about $100 more than optimus black. which one should i get considering the built quality, hardware spec, UI, etc ?
