ramiattia, 11 Jul 2012Hi guys I wanna ask about battery life of this phone I ... moreThe battery life on this phone is not really bad. Maybe it's quite weak on Froyo but it's very good on Gingerbread. I say go for the Optimus Black if you want games and apps. Read my very long personal review from below and compare with 701 reviews. Also consider that Symbian is almost dead. that is, very few apps, very few games, less attractive user interface etc. If all you wanna do is make calls then Maybe Nokia is the way to go. Hope this helps.

[deleted post]For better snappin' at night I'd recommend HDR camera or Pro HDR camera. I'm not an expert on photography but I think the detail resolved using these apps will be much better than with the default camera app.

[deleted post]I don't think it's because of the number of games you have. I also have quite a lot of apps installed. I'm on Gingerbread 2.3.4 firmware v20e. I have seen a lot of Optimus Black users complain about battery life on Froyo but none so far on Gingerbread 2.3.4. Software can be really trick at times. My phone runs very smoothly and hasn't crashed except for this one time. I had just installed a cracked application and the phone abruptly restarted itself. I immediately uninstalled the app and deleted it from my memory card and it never crashed again. I have also noticed this with my Optimus One. software, from time to time, will misbehave but, like in my case, with some logic, it can diagnosed. We also can't run away from the fact that there are thousands of rogue malicious software embedded on other software which might be the cause for some of your apps closing when you open another.

Obiwan, 10 Jul 2012Battry sucked until I startd usin easybatterysaver....yup w... moreI have not experienced that problem with my phone. When you switch to another application, do you hit the back touch button or do you hit the home touch button. Hitting back will close the current application most times. But if this is happening when you hit the home button, then it might be a bug unique to you, or you have too many apps opened at once, or the apps you are opening are badly designed and are using too much ram thus causing the phone to close the formerly opened app. Hope this helps.

This is an honest review of my experience with the LG Optimus Black:
Build Quality:
The Optimus Black has incredible build quality, made with really nice quality plastic all round. Better quality than any of the Galaxy S range smartphones but aluminium could have have been even better.
User interface
My unit came with Gingerbread 2.3.4 pre-installed so my experience may differ from that of Froyo users. Everything was beautifully fluid and fast, save for just after booting and during really heavy multitasking. Overall, really smooth. This was the case even when I used the Go Launcher as my default launcher, which looks incredible by the way.
Screen
The 4 inches on this machine is nothing short of amazing. Blacks are really bad at times, almost appearing to look like a dark hue of grey. Other colours are very vivid though, especially white.
Gaming:
I have installed 3 games so far, Temple Run, GT Racing (my favourite racing game) and Samurai II, and all three run superbly without any hiccups. The PowerVGR SGX530 GPU coupled with the third series TI OMAP 1GHz processor has graphics processing potential equivalent to that of the iPhone 4 so most HD games that are compatible with PowerVGR GPU's will most likely run smoothly with hiccups here and there, but then android apps seem to have hiccups even on dual cores and even quad cores.
Camera:
To say the least, the camera is a miser performer on this device. It's not bad but also really bad compared to some of the best 5MP smartphones. For example my old Samsung Wave II took much more detailed stills and HD videos under both day and night conditions. That does not go to say that the Optimus' camera is useless. It still does a great job and suffices as a "smartphone" camera for that random odd shot.
Battery life:
Last but not least, I have to say, I'm impressed with the battery life. I don't need to be updated about my friends' latest jokes and stolen quotes on Facebook or Twitter every 10 minutes. Nor am I interested in chatting for hours on Whatsapp, Viber or Fring. I use them occasionally only when I need to which is maybe 2 to 3 times a day for about 10 minutes a time. I have my background data enabled all the time , 3G also enabled but auto sync disabled. I only switch on my data radio when I need to use an application that connects to the internet. I play games for about 30 minutes at a time, about 3 times a day. I also watch DSTV Mobile (Satellite TV)streamed from my Drifta over Wi-Fi. I charge once a day and sometimes it lasts longer than a day but never more than a day and a half. So it appears that using the data radio is the biggest culprit in battery consumption. Overall, I am very satisfied with my Optimus Black. It's an amazing device.
