LG Prada K2 benchmarked, matches the Optimus 2X

08 December, 2011

LG is yet to officially announce the next Prada phone, but we already have its first benchmark. The results of the LG P940 (that should be the Prada K2's model number), which should make its public debut on December 14, were posted on the AnTuTu website for a short while and they aren’t bad at all.

You wouldn't normally expect from a designer phone to be a benchmark champion, but the LG Prada K2 got an overall score of 4928, which comes pretty close to the Optimus 2X result of just over 5000. And you should also keep in mind that the LG Prada K2 software hasn't been finalized yet, so it will probably be better by the time it hits the shelves.

Based on this result and the strong partnership between LG and Nvidia, we'd expect the LG Prada to have the same Tegra 2 chipset that's inside the Optimus 2X. It would have been cooler if it stayed in the R&D center long enough to get a quad-core Tegra 3, but those won't be ready for smartphone use for at least a couple more months.

Still, we don't expect many performance-obsessed geeks to be going for a Prada phone, so the Tegra 2 is probably be more than adequate chipset for the occasion.

The other LG Prada K2 spec, confirmed by the leaked benchmark is its Android version. The smartphone will be powered by Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread at launch. Here's hoping that it will be getting an Android 4.0 ICS update shortly after its release.

Any takers?
