Qualcomm is unveiling the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC on September 23, and the main competitor for this flagship chipset in the Android world will of course be MediaTek's upcoming Dimensity 9500. A rumor last month claimed it would be unveiled on September 22, and today MediaTek has finally confirmed the date. It is going to be announced on September 22 at a special event in China.

So the Dimensity 9500 will be presented one day before its main rival - this pretty much sums up how heated the competition in the top of the line Android smartphone SoC space has become.

The Dimensity 9500 is expected to continue with the all-big-core CPU trend, and we should of course see improvements across the board compared to the Dimensity 9400 and 9400+. A teaser for vivo's upcoming X300 and X300 Pro, which will be using the Dimensity 9500, revealed a score of over 4 million in AnTuTu v11 recently. The SoC was also spotted on Geekbench back in June.
