Meizu 20 and 20 Pro run Geekbench on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipsets
A few weeks ago Meizu officially confirmed that the Meizu 20 Pro will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and we saw as much from Geekbench 5 and AnTuTu scorecards. Now both the Pro and the vanilla Meizu 20 have surfaced in the score database for the new Geekbench 6 test, both were using the 8 Gen 2 chip (code name “Kalama”).
The two models got effectively the same single and multi-core tests and each was equipped with 12GB of RAM. Note that this time the phones were identified with their real names rather than model numbers like “m2391”.
Geekbench 6 scores: Meizu 20 • Meizu 20 Pro
Anyway, the Meizu 20 and 20 Pro will deliver identical performance, the Pro will stand out in other ways. Teasers have revealed that the Meizu 20 Pro will feature a 10-bit QHD+ 1-120Hz display, a Samsung E6 LTPO panel, peaking at 1,800 nits brightness. The main camera will feature a 50MP sensor (1/1.56”, with OIS) and the 5,000mAh battery will support 50W wireless charging.
There have been only a few details about the vanilla Meizu 20, but it seems that it will be a sort of gaming phone with a 144Hz 10-bit display. There should be other differences too, but we’ll have to be patient.
The vanilla Meizu 20 will have a 144Hz display
The Meizu 20 Pro will support the CCC 3.0 digital key standard for cars, which is part of the tight integration between the smartphone maker and its EV-focused parent company. We’re not sure whether the vanilla model will offer the same functionality.
Meizu still hasn’t set a date for its return to the smartphone market, but it will probably happen before the end of the month considering that it is already taking blind pre-orders (it has over 300,000, though that doesn’t mean much since it charges just 1 yuan). These pre-orders end on March 14 - we might not see the full reveal tomorrow, but we should get a new batch of teasers at least.

Back to when? 2016?2017? Samsung was definitely better! S6 has at least 2 updates(in some region,3) and S7 has two updates. Meizu offers no system update for their top-tier flagship devices! Meizu is notorious for not offering updates in China, ...
