Meizu announces Pro 6s with a new main camera and a bigger battery

Kaloyan, 03 November 2016

Meizu Pro 6s was just announced in China. The new flagship is a refined version of its Pro 6 predecessor, with improved camera experience and battery life.

Just like the Pro 6, the Pro 6s uses an aluminum unibody with curved edges and the same antenna bands design. The new antenna placement was first introduced by the Meizu Pro 6, but gained popularity with the latest iPhone 7 duo.

The Meizu Pro 6s has absolutely the same footprint, look, and is available in the same colors - Gray, Gold, Silver, Rose Gold. It features a 5.2" Super AMOLED screen with 1080p resolution and 3D Press capabilities. The chipset is still the same Helio X25 with a 10-core processor (2xA72 at 2.5GHz, 4x A53 at 2 GHz, 4xA53 at 1.4 GHz) and the somewhat uninspiring Mali-T880MP4 GPU. There is 4GB of RAM and 64GB non-expandable storage.

The main camera is different and it's the first major upgrade over the Pro 6. The Pro 6s utilizes a 12MP IMX386 sensor for its main camera enhanced with 4-axis optical image stabilization, laser-assistance and phase-detection autofocus. There is also the iconic 10-LED dual-tone ring flash.

The front camera stays the same - a 5MP sensor with large 1.4μm pixels.

The second major upgrade is the battery - it is now 3,060 mAh - a big jump over the 2,560 mAh in the Meizu Pro 6. The phone supports mCharge 3.0 fast charging via a 24W charger.

The Meizu Pro 6s comes with mTouch front key, which has a fast fingerprint scanner embedded within.

Finally, the Pro 6s connectivity package is quite rich with LTE Cat.6 and dual-SIM connectivity, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and there is also Cirrus Logic CS43L36 chip for Hi-Fi audio output via the 3.5mm jack.

The Meizu Pro 6s runs on Android OS with the latest Flyme launcher on top. It will launch in China very soon for CNY 2,699 or $399.

IKR! As if a juggernaut like Apple cares what a little Chinese company does with their iPhone clones. You're most likely right, they probably got a wind of it early and rushed to beat Apple so they can claim to be the first to implement it.
