I remember when I had Meizu M1 Note and it was kinda good, but the build quality was horrible. I still remember so many issues with it, it felt like that meme "made in China", but it was true.

The buttons for power and volume were not steady, they would jiggle in every direction even on the first day of use. The camera flash wasn't placed properly and was uneven on both sides, or the back panel wasn't properly fitted, because if you run your finger through it, you could feel it protruding on one side and on the other it was indented.

The button on bottom that replaced the navigation and was supposed to act like the iPhone home button, had a light behind it and the LED was not sufficient enough to provide light evenly on the whole button - one side always looked dimmer.

And then I really learned how bad the build quality was is when I dropped it from the height of my pocket. I was outside, took my phone out of my pocket to see the time and when I thought I was putting it back in my pocket, I didn't and I dropped it on the pavement. And it hit the bottom left corner and the whole screen cracked. Part of why this happened was because the screen was almost edge to edge, except for a tiny bit of plastic border from the back panel surrounding it and it didn't look like it would protect the screen at all as on impact it dented completely.

After that I tried to repair my phone, going to various shops, most would completely turn me down saying they don't service such obscure brands, the only place where the guy told me he could order replacement parts, he then said "I don't trust the parts will not be defective so I advise you not to waste your money" so I sold it for cheap and never got Meizu ever again. The sad part is I didn't even last more than 6 months with that phone, but the lesson I learned was to look for more sturdily built phones and always buy a case protector, because at the time I never had one and it was still a novelty to me that I didn't think I needed. But since then I've dropped a few phones and was always thankful I had a case that protected them.

Anonymous, 07 Mar 2025What happened to Meizu? They used to have much more powerfu... moreMeizu stopped selling in lots of countries, and lost its popularity. Meizu has already became like those underground chinese companies that produce phones with helio g90 and awful camera.

      Godawful name, design and specs.
Like that one guy who became a fan tho.

What happened to Meizu? They used to have much more powerful phones and low prices. I remember in 2015 owning a Meizu M1 Note, which I later dropped and the whole screen cracked and I couldn't fix it because no repair store would take up the task and I sold it for a lower price because looking at the broken phone bothered me really much. xD

But they had better phones, Flyme OS was cool in name and appearance. I wish to get another Meizu phone, but they all look disappointing in terms of specs.

Smaller, slightly worse version of the 14C.
