Meizu Pro 6 and m3 note battery life tests

We served you two Meizu reviews this week - the Pro 6 and m3 note. The first one brings 3D Press technology and apps plus a deca-core CPU while the mid-ranger m3 note tries to win you with premium design, powerful specs, and attractive price.

The Meizu Pro 6 steered the series on a different path, where the focus shifted from the big screen and flagship performance to a balanced experience with premium looks and 3D Press. You can learn more about how this package worked out in our review.

The Meizu m3 note was highlighted by its metal unibody, big screen and beefy battery at 4,100 mAh. Its Helio P10 chipset wasn't known for its power efficiency, but for once - it wasn't criticized for the lack of it, either.

On the other hand - the Helio X25 and its 10-core processor inside the Pro 6, combined with the mid-sized 2,500 mAh battery raised some concerns.

So, what happened on the battery tests. Some interesting scores indeed.

The Meizu Pro 6 posted an OK endurance at our 3G Talk Time test close to 15 hours while the Meizu m3 note topped the chart.

Later we ran our web browsing script and the Meizu Pro 6 failed to impress posting a subpar endurance of 7 and a half hours. The m3 note did way above average with its 11 hours and easily tops its competition right there.

Finally, both phones did well on the looped video playback - the Pro 6 lasted 10 hours before its battery hit the 10% mark while the m3 note managed to run for 11 hours.

Of course, the standby endurance is heavily participating in the final rating and the Pro 6 did average on both the single-SIM and dual-SIM standby. The m3 note, on the other hand, aced those two trials.

The Meizu Pro 6 rating of 57 hours isn't too bad - it means you can use the Pro 6 for two full days and then some if you are to make an hour of 3G talks, web browsing and video playback each day. Putting a second SIM card drops the rating down to 54 hours. But then again the new MediaTek Helio X25 is far from an energy efficient hardware, just like the rest of the MT chipsets we've met so far.

The Meizu m3 note and its great scores on the individual tests scored an overall endurance rating of 93 hours. That means you can use the m3 note for just shy of 4 full days if you are to make an hour each of 3G talks, web browsing and video playback a day. Putting a second SIM card drops the rating down to 92 hours.
