Hi,
I too have just bought phoen and cannot connect to MSN - even thoughit's set up!
With respect to our Canadian(?) friend - make sure both modem driver and mass storae driveer ar e loaded - and try changing the connection modem between modem and mass storage in "Setup ¦ USB Mode" and see if that kicks it into life - I had to do that to get it to recognise changes from My V3x.
Would be grateful if anyone could tell me why I cannot connect to MSN and also if there's any way around the lack of pictures when connecting via vodafone in the UK
Thanks

Please help!!
I just got an A1200 for my bday.
I cant get phone tools to work with my phone.
I have installed PT.
I have used driver installer/upgrader.
When I plug in my phone to the usb:
The Pc (XP ) says moto' usb device connected.
The phone beeps.
It charges.
But when i try to make a profile in PT it says no phone detected.
Im using the version of PT that came with the phone.
Canadian Moto helpline was no help.
HK moto email help's solution of making sure it (pt ver)doesnt update didn't work

I've just recently got this phone to replace my broken PDA. Just thought I should get something that functions as both a PDA and a mobile phone. BIG mistake...since i have high expectations from using my SONY CLIE and Sasmsung D600. Overall, the design of this phone is great, one of the smallest smart phone there is on the market right now. But that's pretty much all the good thing i have to say about this phone. As a PDA, it's not at all user friendly. There are very few softwares available for this phone. The hot syncing function may have a bug in it as i've tried hot syncing it with my PC a few times and the events either don't show up, or they show up as a double. The user manual that comes with the phone is very basic, and a lot of the phone's capable functions i had to search on forums to figure out. The internal memory is a mere 8mb....even though there is an external tflash slot, it's still waaaay too small for a smart phone as many softwars or files would be much much more convenient to keep in the phone and not on the mem. card (i'll explain more later). Even my D600 has 72mb internal memory for an ordinary phone! The a1200 does have a couple of seemingly cool functions in that it has a business card scanner (that doesn't work too well), and bilingual recognition (english and chinese...but the latter would be useless to those who don't know the language)
As for the phone itself, reception is good, with it being quad band. But i must say that quad band motorola phones do have slightly better reception compared to my quad band D600. The phone book allow you to list All numbers (those stored in sim and phone), and list the sim numbers. However, listing just the numbers stored on the phone is not available, which i think is a flaw because in order to set special ringtones and picture for a particular caller, it is required that the number is saved on the phone, and not the sim card. That's why i would like to be able to see all the numbers
saved in the phone instead. Listing all the numbers just result in a duplication of pretty much every number. Now, back to the inconvenience with the problem with the inability to copy files to and from phone and mem card. Images saved in memory card can be set as wallpaper, but everytime you turn off the phone, the wallpaper you set is gone because it's on the card. The only way to correct this is to move the file to the phone. But since u can only move and not copy files, it means that you don't have that image backed up on the t-flash card anymore, which i find is very annoying.
Calls cannot be answered with the flip cover closed, which is especially inconvenient since the design makes it very hard to open the cover in the first place using just one hand. The voice recognition function/ voice dialing without the need for voice training appears pretty cool at the beginning, but using it proves otherwise. Most of the time, it recognizes either the wrong name or the wrong number, and then you would have to try it all over again. You end up spending way more time that just trying simply to call manually. Finally, the bluetooth (as with all the other motorola phones) is again very inconvenient. I still haven't been able to get it to recognize my bluetooth ear phone (and may i add that it's motorola branded). And i really don't get why even with the BT turned on, you would have to go and activate the discoverable function before someone can send you a file!? If so, then what's the reason behind turning on the BT in the first place? The little plastic covers used to cover the earphone and mini usb openings are flimsy and i'm afraid they'll rip off over time. And the only way to insert or remove the t-flash card is to turn off the phone and remove the battery first.
My final advice, to anyone who is looking for a small and great looking smart phone, this is definitely the phone for you! But if you actually want to use it as either a phone or as a pda, I beg you to try something else, because you'd just be as frustrated as I am. I made the mistake of getting this phone just for its looks and now i'm regretting not putting more research in its functions before making my decision. Hopefully this would help everyone who plan on getting this phone. Thanks for reading!
