I am using Motorola A3100. The EDGRE is automatically activated. How can I stop it? Besides, I have found that GPSxtra is no longer on my phone. I clicked update several timesm but it has never recovered. Java is not installed. How can I solve theses?
Only good thing on Motorola is a voice call quality with Crystal Talk. Howwever, there is no Crystal Talk on A3100. Why?

How in the world are you supposed to remove files from this phone via USB or bluetooth on a Mac? Using this phone has taken months out of my life. Never will I venture to use Windows Mobile again. What an awful experience....

woland, 04 Nov 2009After using this phone for 2 month i have found next proble... moreSad to hear your problems, and the risk of having a phone not officially launched where you live and trying to get the necessary support....because the local Moto CS may not even have the phone, not to mention how to fix the bugs.
I had similar issues with yours, especially after I browsed the web thru 3G or Wifi, I had to restart the phone in order to get it work, which takes quite a while due to the phone being Windows Mobile based.
I feel somewhat cheated from Day 1 when I got A3100, because after I bought the phone, I tried to change the language from Chinese to English. (easily accomplished with my Moto Q9, being Windows Mobile 6.0) Only "afterwards" the salesperson told me such is impossible, due to licensing agreement by Bill Gates.
I struggled a lot managing through the Chinese manuals, and even took a (fortunately free) course regarding Windows Mobile, but still felt unsatisfactory as basic tasks like using MP3 as alarm clock or setting playlists proved to be much much more difficult than any of my "non-smart" Moto phones.
Around July Moto offered me a free upgrade of my A3100 from Chinese to English, only after changing to English Windows, most of the websites in Chinese cannot be displayed! (are we going back to 1995/96? The early days of IE which doesn't support all languages?)
Then I needed to restart everytime I want to browse on the web.
The end of the story is...I sold the phone last month for US$150, and I won't buy any Windows Mobile device again! (and certainly look for the various Android phones from Moto)

After using this phone for 2 month i have found next problems:
(actually i have two A3100. One is my and second is of my wife, but both are doing same problems)
1. In Canada, when you connect thought Rogers or Fido and activate "Name Display" service the phone stuck on first incoming call with pop-up message "CNAP Notification" and do not ring anymore. The problem is in debug code left by developers in RILGSM.DLL. Tried to talk to moto developers - but they do not answer. The solution is to ask Rogers or Fido to replace "Name Display" feature by "Call Display".
2. If your operator support 2G and 3G network in same time then phone sometimes switching between them (probably tried to find better one) and as result sometimes completely lost the connection. No Service shown on the screen and only soft reset return it to working state. The solution is to manually define preferred network instead of "Auto" mode.
3. If your WIFI is permanently enabled and you are travelling in zones where is no WIFI signal then phone sometimes lost WIFI adapter. In this case you are unable to enable or disable it and can't connect. The is no solution and only soft reset restore the WIFI adapter.
I hope that Motorola will relise firmware update shortly which will fix these problems...

I wanted an Iphone but wasn't crazy about it's size, I'm very familiar and actually really like windows operating devices, had HTC Touch and really liked it (so much i also kept it...) but wanted a new phone, found this really sleek looking phone with aluminum cover, touchscreen and trackball, actually kinda looks like a small iphone with smoother corners, loved it's looks, comes with windows 6.1, Opera browser, WI FI, 3G network, decent 3 mp camera and many more accesories, decent screen size and more, had to have it. I don't regret it. Had it for a week, love it. easy handling, easy to operate, very nice interactive home screen and menus. Only dislike battery life, i talk a lot on the phone so i have to charge it every 2 days and some times the touchscreen dosn't have optimal response time, also dosn't come with big internal memory you'll have to buy a 8GB or 16GB micro SD if you want your songs and MP4's in your motorola surf.. Not an Iphone killer but if you'd like a nice upgrade for your HTC or windows OS smartphone I would really recommend this phone.
