What a lot of you (and seemingly almost no cell-phone manufacturer) do not get, is that there is a vast body of cell-phone users who need only a phone.

My needs are for a phone that can handle calls, give me a list of received and sent calls, receive and send SMS's and synchronise with my e-mail and address-book/contacts.

That's it.

I am not interested in fashion, or phone-cameras (mostly useless anyway) or polyphonic ring-tones or millions of colours or MP3 players or how many games it has or can be downloaded to it or whether it can play mpegs or how snazzy it looks (the worst I saw was an ad for a phone that had as its most desirable (?)/most prominent feature that fact that it had a sleek, new, aerodynamic design! The mind boggles. Does that mean that you can throw it further than other phones when the person on the other end frustrates you?) or how many ringtones you can download to it or any of the other useless functions.

The phone that I want (and would gladly buy at the drop of a hat) is not available where I live anymore (Ericsson R280), but looking at what is available and the cost thereof, I suspect my next phone will be a Blackberry device. At least sanity still prevails in that arena.

If this is a phone/PDA, it could at least have more inbuilt memory.

I could not agree with Emeka more! The phone craze is old! It was a gimic to get you to use air time in the first place. The Japanese loved it and the rest of the world got it! Now, if we can get the companies to just get over trying to shove it down our throats, and start working on the real power of the mobile device...broadband and full internet connectivity without trying to strangle us for every single byte of service witha cost factor. Give it up, and just be happy with providing the connection like all the internet providers. In the end, the mobile phone companies are nothing but an internet provider. They need to learn this and that the customer is not going to stand behind a company the tries to nickel and dime them for every feature single connectivity feature. Rant over!

Personally, the Motorola A780 remains the closest to perfection.Anyway, what's all the fussing about the camera? It's just a damn phone and nothing more. What serious minded business man takes pictures anyway when doing business??? The important features which are the word viewer(to view your documents)PIM functions(Transferring data), Edge(high speed connection)are already included.

Why is everyone so concerned with the camera on this phone? It's a phone! I have an A768i which is one of the best phone/PDA components I've ever worked with. This looks like it's the same as far as functionality and the OS it uses. Get off the minor features already. They don't make phones with all these new age features so you can complain about the camera. And as far as the memory, do you need a laptop or a cell phone???

                            Whoa..!!!! wat's wrong with MOTO...!!!
CIF cam and no card slot with just 8 mb...
                            hahahahaha..!!!

                              Why CIF...that's why:

This is a business phone with all essential functions that a PDA should have. The CIF is just there to say it's got a camera, maybe for MMS and other things. You probably couldn't even print the photos, but that's not the point. NO business PDA has exceeded 65k color as yet, and doesn't need to.

It's for business, and too keep the price down the camera doesn't need to be special.

Why the hell are Motorola releasing this phone with a CIF camera in 2005 when 5Mp camera phones are out in the market?
