If you say they're taking over then they wouldn't have split the company in too. As a matter of the fact the stocks of Mobility & Solutions when up to a high when they announced it and I'm not saying it out of spite you can actually look it up for yourself.

The phone not even out yet and your having a wet dream yourself over specs.

In fact Google recommend that developers make multi-threaded apps in all instances: For button presses, for accessing the network, for database access, etc, etc.

Android will be able to make use of dual cores as it stands, however a change to the JIT compiler will make the use of dual or multi cores more efficient if Google haven't made the required changes already.

You guys do realize that the apps or programs have to be coded to utilize the tegra 2 correct? Is it really that powerful? well considering most new "awesome" tablets that cost a ton all house it, with nearly the same amount of ram with a bigger screen, I'd say this is one bamf of a phone. most likely next year there could be dual core standardization or even quad core if battery performance is ironed out. The cool thing with the Tegra 2 SOC is that it optimizes it self based on the load, so it only consumes the amount of power it needs. and who ever keeps saying that its a 2ghz phone, dude that would mean my i7 950 @ 4.2ghz has like 33ghz with HT. lulz noob, it doesn't. Its how the program is coded, to utilize multi cores. If its a single core coded app, then you'll be doing as good as the ARM 9 aritecture is, so you might be slightly better clock for clock with an A8 chip thats @ 1ghz. Thats why (well I'm forgetting the name) the new HTC phone is possibly better in terms of sheer cpu performance, @ 1.2-1.5ghz since all apps on android, symbian, iOS, palmwebOS and Blackberry are coded for single cores, a high clocked single core will do better than an ok clocked dual core. that's for now atleast, who knows what the future holds.
Besides that, this phone is da bomb, def getting one.

The processor is 1ghz per core. Hence dual core meaning two ghz. For the noobs info, the speed is quite impressive running android froyo(2.2) with the 2.3 gingerbread ota update following suite. The resolution is superb especially when you can have 1080p. No other phone, as to date, have these features.

I knew these phones were coming but I got a nexus s instead. I wonder how much of a noticeable difference in performance there is. I wish there was a pure google dual core phone, i guess i will wait till next year when they have quad core phones, maybe it will be pure google. Hard too keep up with this fast moving mobile technology smh

Looks good and I'm very interested. I have some reservations but two things really worry me:

The very low standby time of 250h or 264h. So far this is the only dual core phone I've seen with published times but these are pretty low compared to the single 1GHz core phones especially since Tegra 2 is supposed to use 40% less power and this phone has a 1930 mAh battery.

Looking at other Motorola handsets it seems that they have been pretty low in the past compared with similar phones, often having values that are half those of their competitors.

The other thing that worries me is future upgrades.

The Atrix software looks like it is going to require a lot of maintenance from Motorola; after all it isn't just a light skin that can be updated quickly with each Android release and this gives me zero confidence:

[deleted post]Sounds Like Samsung & Sony ericsson then. Unless HTC release a 4" max screen with 8 megapixel dual LED flash then this will be my next phone.

                            While iphone 4 is using 960*640 res display = (2x480)*640 = 2xVGA (not qHD)

When playing a HD movie file (9:16) Atrix will show the movie in full screen.

All the other things like - texting ,browsing, listening to music ,gaming ,capturing images & videos etc. r part of the standby time. Imagine a phone on which u just ended up gaming & u put it aside just to find the next hr that ur phone has got dead due to poor battery life.
