Motorola Edge 50 review
Design, build quality, handling
The Motorola Edge 50 has a familiar design. It has been a signature for the majority of the Edge 50 lineup, especially with the vegan leather back panels. The Edge 50 takes after the Pro and Ultra with its thin profile, slightly curved panels and vegan leather rear side.
The Edge 50 is quite a durable smartphone. Its IP68-certified for resistance to water and dust, and it supposedly complies with the MIL-STD-810H military-grade standard for harsh environment resistance, which means it should survive extreme temperatures, temperature shocks, exposure to rain, humidity, sand and dust, physical shocks and occasional vibrations.
The Edge 50 has a Gorilla Glass 5 front panel, slightly curved towards the frame. The thin frame is aluminum, while the back panel is covered in vegan leather.
The leather back has three colorways - Jungle Green, Koala Grey and Peach Fuzz. We had the chance to see all of them in person. The hues are rather subdued - just like the Pantone colors they take after.
It's worth noting that the back of our Koala Gray review unit, although still technically vegan leather, has a slightly different finish. That's why Motorola names it Vegan Suede. Unlike a typical grainy leather surface, the Vegan Suede feels silky smooth to the touch.
Another design element shared across the Edge 50 series is the camera island, which transitions seamlessly towards the rest of the back.
The 6.7-inch P-OLED on the front has thin bezels, high resolution and high refresh rate, and only a tiny punchhole for the selfie camera interrupts the surface.
The Edge 50 features an under-display optical fingerprint sensor - a fast and reliable one.
The phone has two Dolby Atmos-enhanced speakers - the earpiece doubles as one of the speakers, while the other one is at the bottom, next to the USB-C port.
The back has the slightly rising camera island, which houses the three cameras - a 50MP primary, a 10MP 3x tele and a 13MP ultrawide, together with the LED flash.
The Motola Edge 50 measures 160.8 x 72.4 x 7.8 mm and weighs 180 grams, which is quite a thin and lightweight for a phone with a 6.7-inch screen.
The Edge 50 offers a solid grip and is nicely fingerprint resistant. We found it easy to use in all day-to-day scenarios, including photo and video capturing.
Overall, we can only praise the Edge 50 design or ergonomics.

My edge 50 neo supposedly has IFS2.2. It was 85-90% as fast as my UFS3 Find x5 on the antutu storage test

Does the Edge 50 have the problems of the Edge pro with the bluetooth connection. The latter has a problem with Bluetooth calls.
