Motorola Edge 50 Pro announced with SD 7 Gen 3 and 125W charging
Motorola is turning a new page in its smartphone lineup as it capped off a big launch event in India with the launch of the Edge 50 Pro. This is Moto’s new premium upper midrange offering featuring the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, a 1220p AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate and a capable triple camera setup.
Edge 50 Pro is built around a curved 6.7-inch pOLED with 1220p resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The panel features 2,000 nits peak brightness and is also the first smartphone with Pantone-validated colors for more accurate real-world colors and skin tones. The display also features a 50MP front-facing camera with autofocus and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
The back gets a 50MP main cam with an f/1.4 aperture and OIS alongside a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and a 13MP ultrawide lens which also doubles as a macro cam. Edge 50 Pro is the first Motorola smartphone with an AI Photo Enhancement Engine with optimizations for motion capture and color segmentation.
The software side features Motorola’s new Hello UX interface based on Android 14 which brings generative AI features for custom wallpapers. Moto Ege 50 Pro will be the first phone to support Motorola Smart Connect which is Moto’s new set of continuity features that work across smartphones, tablets, and PCs from Motorola and Lenovo with support for external displays and data sync. Motorola is also pledging 3 years of Android OS updates and 4 years of security patches.
Edge 50 Pro features a 4,500 mAh battery with 125W wired charging and 50W wireless charging and is also IP68 rated.
Motorola Edge 50 Pro comes in black and lavender colors as standard. There’s also a limited Moonlight Pearl designed by the Italian design house Mazzucchelli 1849.
Pricing starts at INR 31,999 ($383) for the 8/256GB trim and goes up to INR 35,999 ($431) for the 12/256GB version. Open sales in India are set to begin on April 9. The Moonlight Pearl edition is launching on April 8 at 7 PM India time.
