Shaun, 16 Dec 2010HELP, friend got a flipout without dataplan, and no wifi a... moreSeveral ways:
- go to setting - mobile networks - access point name - change some of the setting there (like put 00), so the phone CANNOT be connected for data
- cut all dataplan usage from your network service provider
though one probably would miss out quite a bit to use a smartphone without getting any app...

[deleted post]If I were you, I would narrow down the choices by:
Motorola Flipout, Nokia E5,HTC Wildfire (but I already have an HTC Tattoo, which is really similar), Sony Ericsson X10 mini pro, Nokia C5, LG Optimus
1. Phone with good (voice) quality - SE & LG are out
2. Symbian is out, so are C5 and E5.
3. Keyboard, if yes, then Flipout.
Though my wife mostly uses her Flipout without the keyboard...

Desire, 10 Dec 2010Well i think he is too expensive for that specifications...... morePart of the reason why this phone costs Euro 250 (in HK) is the phone runs on Android.
Can you rind me any other Android phone with voice and build quality as good as Motorola for less? If so, let me know.
Most makers don't even bother to make Android phones with qwerty keyboard, and the only brand which offers a model about the size of Flipout is not really a phone.

Well i think he is too expensive for that specifications... 3.15 mpx camera is too old from now... Touchscreen isn't anything new, QWERTY keyboard also... Smart phones are also nothing new... So actually I don't know why smart phone like MOTOROLA FlipOut cost 300€, it should cost 200€ and less...

Right, no, this phone doesn't have the best camera. So how about you buy this phone then get a cheap £50 12 megapixel camera? (http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/kodak-easyshare-c143-compact-digital-camera-07671841-pdt.html)

I dont think anyone who has used a VE66 befor... moreIf that's the case, suggest you go for XT720 instead, as my wife already carries iphone "and" Flipout...hence she wants something really small as her 2nd phone.
The main selling point for Flipout is its design more than anything else. If you have higher expectation on hard specs, suggest you look for others like XT720.
This phone is more like a toy....

100 Moto, 25 Nov 2010Yes, we all wish Moto would make this or any other phone &q... more@ 100 Moto
I dont think anyone who has used a VE66 before will at all like the cam on this one but if she isnt using it much then that's different. for me though a decent cam on my phone ( like say the one on the VE66 , if not like the one on the Milestone XT 720 ), makes me feel prepared :P
dont tell me the screen resolution/quality is *that* bad that its totally not worth buying the flipout, or is it ??i really wont mind paying a bit more for this unit with a better cam/ screen res. sigh. they should allow choosing a custom configuration for the phone u want like for netbooks/all-in-ones :)
since u already own the unit can u please tell me about :
touchscreen response
the battery performance
cam performance er indoors maybe :)
internet access/browsing experience
or any other glitches u experience with the unit ??
if this device's only USP is the flipout form factor/ qwerty n that it suports eclair i will rather get the milestone XT 720, yeah its candybar but with better specs n anyways either this or the milestone wont be getting updated to froyo or so far that's the news . BIG SIGH :( :(
sorry.long post :(

no i am not saying that that cell phones shoul... moreYes, we all wish Moto would make this or any other phone "perfect". My wife was using the 5mp cam VE66 before this, and she did ask me what's the mp on this cam. My answer to her was she'd better use a DC.
What bothers me more is the display resolution....as I'm sure my wife doesn't take photo with phone eveyrday, but she certainly looks at the display (and play Angry Bird!) very often.
I just think of this this way, I got my Flipout for about US$320. If the resolution is better, that may add US$100~150 to the pricetag. With a better cam, it may cost some US$100~$150 more...
