CDMA... Thats a small market compared to GSM.. BIg fish in a small pond? or small fish in the big pond???

U said pple are sick with moto. Whats ur edvidence? Pple are sick with Nokia for their BRICK phone, LOL.. AND SAMESONG, ops..
SMAE design, D500, D600, D900.. And even their names are not so innovative..

Looke at SLVR, KRZR, RAZr, MING,ROKR.. This are marketing strategiess.

KAL, do some research please, Samesong is falling their way down , down. JUZ to let u kno, their with be a UMTS and GSM Q by the end of this yr. ANd 2 scpl phones starting of nxt yr.. HIGHLY secretive.

"YES they had the idea and call it stupidity or whatever, Samsung WAS and IS sitting on it. Forget about 2003, They had a 9.8mm phone SPH-N2000 in 2001"

and where is this coming from? please post your links on that instead of the LG part. show me the article about how samsung had the idea first. give me some quotes from samsung employees who claim they had the idea first.

you're basing the idea on the fact that they had slim phones? mindless conjecture if i ever saw it. many phone makers in asia from sharp to panasonic to sanyo had those thin candybars phones. does that mean they all created the razr first and were sitting on it as well? bullcrap!

they had thin greyscale screen phones with horrible battery life due to unperfected engineering. they all had short lives on the market. it was motorola who turned thin phones into something livable! it was motorola who put the color lcd screen, the bluetooth and speakerphone all in one stylish clamshell package! slim -and- functional with an actual battery! now after these other phone people dissect razr and find out what moto did, they copycat. peddle your jargon elsewhere.

motorola's cdma marketshare has been next to nothing but is steadily climbing from new phones such as razr V3c and Q. they had no cdma gameplan but that has changed, they're building from scratch instead of running away like cowardly nokia. their marketshare was limited because they weren't on one of the two american cdma carriers, Sprint! how can you get anywhere like that?

but guess what buddy, MOTO IS TAKING SPRINT BY STORM BY THE END OF THIS YEAR! that's right, the BIG M is RETURNING to SPRINT!

      http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/10/03/sprint-to-launch-three-new-motoallcaps-devices/

yeah buddy! let's see what LG's cdma marketshare looks like this time next year now that motorola is on the comeback!! their huge 35% lead in north and south america can only go up from here!

next time keep your anti-moto propaganda for when richie buchanan isn't on call. i'm all over you!

        @Richard Buchanan

"uhh yeah, the #1 being THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE IDEA YET. you actually believe samsung designed had their phone first and just sat on it? "---

YES they had the idea and call it stupidity or whatever, Samsung WAS and IS sitting on it. Forget about 2003, They had a 9.8mm phone SPH-N2000 in 2001..thats 2 years before even moto think of anything in that thin line. Of course I ackowledge that Motorola has a gerat marketing team. Samsung always try out their best phones in Korea. Some of them never reach the rest of the world. Those lucky Koreans are enjoying the most advanced features for long time..be it 10MP, 3x optical zoom, 10GB HD phones, DMB tech, HSDPA not to mention EV-DO WCDMA, thats like 12mbps....of course now you will say those are not GSM... My point is those features and technologies are already there and its actually getting old. Its GSM who is catching up. If you cant take it..go get some fresh air.

The first impression we all have about Samsung is..its a korean company and that immediately remind us of Huyndai Cars. But when it comes to cell phone technology its quite OPOSITE. Korea and Japan are lightyears ahead in that field. These days when Nokia annouces N series some folks go crazy and claim it be the BEST phone ever...And when those lazy marketing guys at Samsung finally will decide to lauch their best phones worldwide, I'm sure some people will be screamming loud that samsung is copying N series. Those koreans or Japanese will laugh their a$$ off if they read it.

""I.M.H.O. this will result in a two horse race between LG and Samsung (baring in mind LG have taken over motorola in their own coutry (US))"----

that was "Hmmm's comment but I'm sure he was talking about CDMA not GSM....and YES, LG took over Motorola in US CDMA market for quite some time now..and that is in motorol's homeland US..moto comes 4th in CDMA by the way....well its not GSM.So leave it, but it is a bit shame. Do I need to add some links to read on?

About LG and SE..there are confliting report..according to some sources LG is little ahead of SE. Not sure which one to believe. Even your Redherring link shows they both holds 7% in 2006 2Q.

To those with their facts right and know what they're talkin about... ignore those who hate on the original aka Motorola... but instead show love to the imitators... aka LG, Samesong etc...

Just beats me how they go on and on and on yet they make no impact... put down false info... and yet the moderators on here just let the info be.

Ya'll know how it goes... more money more problems... razr brought so much more money and moto users that the haters are so hurt they wanna put it down every chance they get.

            How pathetic!

To KAL. First of all, SAME song, i mean samsung is a copycat. COpied LG's chocolate, copy Motos V3, copied Moto Q.. Samsung is a huge liar with a bad UI. Moto is the original designer of V3 so if they continue it with K1, it is absolutely ok. Moto's shares rose from 15% to 23%. what bout same song? they dropped to 13% What a bad investment for samsung. Samsung= a big copy cat. Bad samsung, bad korean company

Hmmm, please save your misinformation for places which Richie Buchanan does not frequent.

"where as you both have correct information in part i would like to add that samsung actually designed first. there where various reasons why they withheld the release of the V740."

uhh yeah, the #1 being THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE IDEA YET. you actually believe samsung designed had their phone first and just sat on it? lmao!! the v740 was released OVER A YEAR AFTER THE RAZR. so you're saying samsung created v740 in 2003? they sat on the design for two years? what a stupid claim.

samsung created the v740 after moto vowed to bring the razr to korea in the form of V3c or MS500. it was a counter. how dare you try to claim otherwise.

"I.M.H.O. this will result in a two horse race between LG and Samsung (baring in mind LG have taken over motorola in their own coutry (US))"

please, do some research or find better sources! where do you get these things from? motorola is #1 in america for years now only being briefly overtaken by nokia. their margin is very wide separated from the next slot by about 15%:

"In the continent that includes the U.S., Nokia has 20% share, lagging behind Motorola which has 35%"

                    http://www.businessweek.com/technology/content/feb2006/tc20060207_097233.htm

worldwide, LG has fallen behind Sony Ericsson! they have two slots to fill before even thinking of touching motorola!

I guess the Motorola 5.5 mm candybar (like what PK2000 and Kal said), might be the rumoured MotoScpl (scalpel). And i think that that phone will be announced as motorola's flagship by 2007 when the SCPL-series rolls out throughout 2007 and 2008. Bcuz i read a news that said : "Ed Zander is going to trade his RAZR for a SCPL.". go to this website : http://www.motorazr.com/home/p2_articleid/308

                        @ pk2000....
i agree with what your saying this phone is great for sending / recieving calls and texts and does look really good. but it is very likely moto will release a krzri or something similar. i would advise all people who are interested in buying this phone to wait (what will most probably be a couple of months) for the upgraded version or to take a look at the v3x which is a completed model which allready boasts better features for a cheaper price.

To me Korean phones are just like Korean cars, good in looking and never live up to the performance. Give me a Honda Integra or Hyundai Tuscani and people should know which one is better. I know this is strictly for opinion on phones and I posted my opinion on K1 and I never say is very good but it does perform what a phone needs to do that is making calls and sending MMS/SMS without problems and so what if you get a phone that is as thin as paper and will consumer buy?? Finally sorry I will only post my opinions on Motorola, Nokia or Sony Ericsson phones and Korean products do interest me much any way.

                                  @ kal and pk2000...

where as you both have correct information in part i would like to add that samsung actually designed first. there where various reasons why they withheld the release of the V740, nothing to do with the thickness of the phone as they already had plans for the x820 which (correct me if im wrong) was the thinnest gsm phone on the market when released. there has been alot of 'copying' from the 2 manufacturers and now LG are joining in too.

surely instead of arguing 'who has what' and 'who did it first' we should look to the future of what this can lead to i.e. 3 manufactures all releasing similar phones to suit different aspects of the market.

I.M.H.O. this will result in a two horse race between LG and Samsung (baring in mind LG have taken over motorola in their own coutry (US)) That is of course believeing that motorola will keep bringing out phones that dont seem to be an improvement or seem to be much different than their last, whilst samsung are improving their phones (i.e. d900, x820) and LG are starting to filter into more countries and leading through 3G and the camera qualities whilst also combing technology with new functionalitie (scratch and scroll etc)

What my interest is only GSM phones and Motorola is the first to launch in GSM for sure and I cannot recall Korean are using GSM network as they are using KCDMA and same goes to Japan also.

                                        Just between you and me--
Thanks for shraing some info. Just to add some more, if you go to the motorola page in this site you will notice that they annuced those eggshell phones with external antena till 2005 1Q..those might be the old designs that they had before or might be country specific phones..but I, sure see a lot of them in the US. You mentioned about Z510/Z540 which was released much later than razr..but I believe you forgot to take into account that Samsung had V740 in Korea about the same time when Razr was 1st released. They had their press release on the same day infact, both had same thickness 14.5mm..V740 had better specs. But when rarz was released in the market the thickness was 13.9mm.They had won the thin-game..They went ahead and released it world wide..where as Samsung didn't. That V740 is now in US as A900(CDMA) aka Samsung Blade. The GSM version D810 is not even been released and most probably will not.Whoever sees it, says its a razr copy. So personally I think that Samsung took that defeat way very personally...now there are rumors of a new motorola bar phone that will be 5.5mm thin..lets see. At the end of the day its good for us, when manufacturers compete with each other. We get to see some nice technology.Cheers!
