[deleted post]Hey buddy, why need to think? Definitely Milestone. X2 is a joke, the hardware is below Milestone's in every aspect, look at the speed, screen, and design.

Hold X2 and you'll notice how bulky it is. The WinMo OS is also suck in big time. Milestone now can be used with Android 2.1 and comes with lots of improvements.

The Milestone's screen is way ahead (3.7 capacitive compared to X2's 3.2 TFT). There are lots of goodies from 2.1 more than the old WinMo X2.

Go for it dude, take the Milestone

Something that is missing from the review here, the screen on this phone is Gorilla Glass by Corning. The only phone currently on the market with this type of glass. Look it up on YouTube, it's the most scratch resistant screen available.

Angad Singh, 31 Mar 2010The only reason u don't the like he phone is u don't wanna ... moreYou're wrong, I love this phone. There is nothing that any other android phone has that this phone can't do. HTC Sense UI? I can root my phone and install the exact same OS. I bet within 3 months, the Sony X10 ROM will be available for this phone as well (If you want to go to 1.6).

Somebody asked for an honest evaluation of the negatives of this phone and I gave it. I'm not a Motorola fanboy, I purchase the best phone that suits my needs and that would be the Motorola Droid/Milestone.

Stop being so blind, this is not the ultimate phone, it does have some problems, but it is a great product with great support from Motorola and Google and should be a solid performer for several years.

Things I don't like about the phone:

Buttons: The camera and phone buttons are plastic and feel kinda loose. You can wiggle them around just a little bit.

Screen: Nothing wrong with the screen, but the ear hole that is cut into it is a problem. The screen over the speaker is set kinda deep and the slot in the screen is a bit large. Lint from your pocket builds up in there. I've never had to clean it, but I still don't like looking at the lint in there.

Camera: When you start it up, it makes slight whirling and clicking noises (like a real camera), unfortunately the photos are not great unless you're in very good light. Also, it takes a while for the camera to actually take a picture from the time you press the button, and takes a while before it's ready to take another photo (about 5 seconds total). This seems to be more of a software issue though, since the 2.1 update in the US seems to make the camera app operate faster (don't know about the picture quality yet though).

Keyboard: It's not the best keyboard out there but it's decent. The problem is the offset on it, I tend to center my thumbs under the screen so I'm doing most of my typing with my left thumb (about 3/4ths of the keyboard). It's a bit awkward at first, but you get used to it, and I use my keyboard anytime I search on the internet or enter a lot of data. I'd rather have a keypad like the Moto Devour, centered and spaced keys with an optical pad up above on the slide that you can reach with your thumb.

Memory: I wish it had 8+ gigs of RAM instead of 256MB. I have about 40 or so apps loaded now and still have over 150MB free, but I am a bit concerned about having to delete apps later on. Just so you know, all images/video/music installs to the SD card. Even games will create a file on the SD card to store the music, sound effects, graphics.

Thats about it really, all my other issues are with the Android OS, and almost all of those problems can be solved if I decide to root my phone. There are times when the UI seems a bit crude or overly complicated. I'm sure google will polish it up eventually though. The standard Android music player is very basic, lacking even simple equalizer settings.
Video player is very basic, but works.

I considered cheaper Android phones, like the HTC Eris, but they don't have the CPU power to keep up with Android developement (the live wallpapers for example). Over 1 million droids/milestones have been sold, their are a lot of people out there modding and hacking the OS for this specific phone, not to mention the CPU can be overclocked about 1GHZ. This phone should be good for a couple years at least.

There are apps that you can install for free that allow you to use the LED as a flashlight.

Battery life, there is a meter that tells you where all the power from the battery is going and it's almost all going to power the screen. So if you just used the phone as a phone and text, then I'd say it will last at least 24 hours. I use the internet/youtube for an hour or two plus phone/text and the phone lasts about 12 to 18 hours. If you play a 2 hour movie, it will drain about 70% of the battery. I use advanced task killer to keep any background applications closed, and the power widget to keep gps/bluetooth off most of the time though.

Crashing, I've had this phone for a few months now and I have NEVER had to do a hard reset. If I have apps being downloaded (my antivirus then scans it) and then try doing other things like google maps or such or just switching quickly between apps, sometimes I have pop up that appears telling me that something is taking too long, do you want to force kill or wait. I usually select force kill, which then clears the screen of everything except your wallpaper and about 15 seconds later everything comes back up again. Again, I've never had this phone fully lock up or restart on me.

Also, does anyone have any COMPLAINTS about the phone (like little annoying things like being unable to change your wallpaper or something)?

How stable is the OS, does it ever freeze/reset?

Has anyone been able to get a workaround to use smart dialing?

                          Hey guys,

Can anyone tell me if the led flash can be turned on and used as a flashlight?

Also can anyone comment on it's Australian reception with the 3G network (I'm with Three AU)?

As of today, the Droid is getting a 2.1 OTA update. It includes speech to text for any text entry box. I'm happy to see this, since the Android voice search works very, very well (In the US at least, not sure about the rest of the world).

100 Moto, 30 Mar 2010Yeah, the X10 certainly beats Milestone by offering Android... moreActually Price of Milestone is is a low as $479 now and Nexus one is in low $600. Why bother to buy SE X10???

Now Milestone has been upgraded to OS 2.1 too. LAter on the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S coming too. So, SE X10 lose between these 3 great phones.
