hi! whenever i click on the SYSTEM UPDATES, a dialog box opens up and states that normal data rates may apply ....after tapping to CONTINUE and it starts to check the avaible software update for i think 4 secs...
afterwards it shows UNABLE TO CONNECT dialog box and states: The device is unable to connect to the server please try later
wht should i do, to check the OTA update for Milestone XT720???
please please please help me

The Answerer, 13 Aug 2010folks....if u want good camera clarity go buy a digicam...o... moreThat is the most stupid argument, I always get this argument, its like saying if you want to connect to facebook or the Internet, carry a laptop, if you want to listen to music then carry a mp3 player.
The point of a smartphone is you carry everything in one device, if they put a 5/6 or 8 megapixel camera then it should take decent pictures, EVERYONE knows you will not get digital camera quality, but the quality should be good enough to see on monitor or on 4" by 6" photo paper.

if yes then how to do--
Q.2: when exactly are we expecting the firmware update for this phone (since Milestone had already received thru OTA)

htc is still a reletively new Tiawan based mobile company.. and you talking about the droid which was released a good 6mths before any of the other phones you mentioned.

Do you. Work for moto? You just seem to cut and paste info from other sources ...which is fine but if you don't have any hands on use your statements are void.

What are you talking about. First Milestone in USA Droid with CPU 550 Mhz, 256 Mb Rom and Ram still performant. The benchmark shows X10 score almost like X10. While X10 got 1Ghz, 386 Ram and 1Gb Rom. To even see the impact on market Droid out sell EVO 4G, Desire, Droid Eris, Droid incredible and Moto Droid was the the top selling in Q2 in USA But Milestone XT720 have :
CPU 720 Mhz, Ram 256 Mb, Rom 512Mb, Android 2.1 not 1.6 like X10, Build in Radio FM, 8MP Xenon, HD Video record, TV out HD, Pinch Zoom and Multitouch, Battery 1390 mAh vs Desire 1400 mAh, 3.7 inch with 16M color. With all this you think This phone have nothing? For your information HTC announced 2 new smartphones and one of them have 800Ghz. So my conclusion you are a hater.

solnyshok, 12 Aug 2010So, I own it for about 3 weeks. Camera/HD video is a disast... moreYou can overclock the XT720 to 1.2 Ghz but did not see improvement in HD video still jerky!
Everything else is smooth and responsive and the web browsing is fast.
The Quadrant score when the XT720 is set to 1GHz is 602 which beats the nexus One at the same frequency (scores about 510).
(Note The max you can go is 1.2GHz which gives a score of 692! but the XT720 is not too stable as it crashed once).
It was surprisingly easy to overclock Just download two apps and install (google search):
universalandroot.apk (to root your phone)
milestoneoverclock12.apk (to set the frequency)
(You need version 1.2 as the latest version 1.3.2 from the market does not work with the XT720)
WARNING: Use this at your own risk. I am not reponsible if you damage/brick your phone. To play safe it is advisable to set the frequency to 800Mhz which is max "quoted" frequency for the XT720.

i agree with all of those who say that they are merely depressed about the camera performance, but i think we ppl (who own this handset) might have hope that the new firmware can solve our problem...

This phone is marketed on its camera, 720p video & mainly on the xenon flash, so it these 3 are not top notch then this phone is a fail. & I with it was not as I want an Android phone with Xenon flash, just like when I bought a Nokia N82, It was all about the xenon flash

my friend has xt720 and i see his picture
its picture even beter than x10
i think the new firmware can help to take even beter and beter

the only thing setting this phone apart from the other androids out there was the 8mp cam with xenon and hdmi...the most dissapointing parts of the phone.
then you left with a "flapship" phone that still is behind the others in terms of technology
