It's a great inexpensive mid ranger, bright screen , above average cameras, great battery life and we'll built overall.

I recommend for anyone who want a good phone with all the basics right

An update: Despite complaining about how slow they roll updates I actually got the Android 15 update at the beginning of March, not bad honestly. And now my phone is, as of May 2nd, currently with the March security patch, April Play Store update and Android 15.

There's really nothing worth mentioning about hello UI based on android 15 update (seriously literally nothing changed) but now there's an option to have cloned apps (only telegram and WhatsApp as of now) something that someone asked about below. Battery life improved a bit too.

Still, no blur background interface (not a performance thing since their new budget moto g15 with mediatek helio g81 has blur background and the phone performs just fine),no Circle To Search, no moto AI (I guess it will remain exclusive to the edge series, you're not missing much anyways). A bit disappointing that there's no new lockscreen customization options, no repair mode yet, no backup phone tool like Samsung, no drag text/pics between two apps, multitasking is still too basic. And I found out an annoying bug with dark mode turning off if the sun hasn't come down yet (pixel phones had the same issue maybe it's an android 15 thing?)

I'm happy with this phone, performance is great with 8gb RAM, never had a single issue with the camera, and Motorola has me locked in with all the gimmicky gestures to trigger actions. But besides that the phone feels a bit boring compared to what other phone companies have to offer (like one plus for example), and after a while this has made me reconsider if I really want a clean stock like experience. Motorola really needs to step up their game.

It seems this phone doesn't have optimal switch which would automatically disable 5G to save battery for example when it is connected to WiFi.

Anyone have a problem with the screen recorder, when using it to record on whatsapp I am getting weird message on starting the video call it says,

Whatsapp was unable to start camera. If you continue to experience issues with camera, please restart your device

This is only when I start the onboard screen recorder then make video call, if I just do video call without enabling screen to record it works fine, Bug maybe??

I have whatsapp updated and cleared cache but will not work if I wanna record the screen.

I'm always scared to update to a new OS after so many issues with other phones in the past.
I wish you had a choice of just updating the security patches , I like to think my phones safe but don't want the worry that it might not work properly or have to factory reset it after an OS update .

At least Motorola give you an excuse to upgrade , plus they care about people's health, unlike Samsung who after years of being repeatedly told their amoled were damaging to people's health did nothing .

I have a G75, which has the same screen as the G55, and it's hard to use at night. I would prefer a screen with a lower resolution and more comfortable like the G53. The G75's screen is very good during the day, but at night I believe it can damage my vision because of the brightness.

I'm currently using a g35 as I couldn't use the g55 for more than a few minutes (red tint BTW) , however the g35 screen is lovely and one of the friendliest screens l've seen in a very long time .

I must stress if anyone's thinking about buying the g35 though , buy the 8gb version as the 4gb seems to be unusable .

Maybe manually select 60hz/120hz on the display refresh rate option & not make it auto.

Might sound fancy, but that's how I feel. Played with a Galaxy A06 at the mall, which has a really good LCD screen... I just couldn't... It is what it is.... Transition to OLED is like going from floppy-disk to DVD.

Not a bad phone for the right price, but after 1 and half month use I can tell you that I don't like that it's big. I mean this thing is as big as a S25 Ultra (with no need for that). Secondly, the screen sucks. As LCD, it floods you with light at night, while during the day you can barely see shit. Security patched with March 1st and running Android 15. Camera is decent, no lag. I've charged it with original Google 33W charger and with a Kill-o-watt device I've measured it pull 26-28W from the grid. It doesn't bother me. What does, is that the battery info says it has completely 18 full charging cycles (🤔 even if set at a 1 full charge/week) and that the battery is already at 97% capacity. Those are weird af numbers since I've only got the phone about 7 weeks ago and it charges to 80 (actually 81) % and never from under 20%. The 2 things that seriously bother me are size and screen. I might end up with an S25 after all or even an iphone.
