Anonymous, 04 Jun 2023Why not put 7+ gen 2, even if it cost a little more? Why is... moreMotorola doesn't put 7+ Generation 2, because they have different markets and different needs. The 6 Gen 1 is a Snapdragon 6 series chipset that is a marketable upgrade over the overused 695. Trying to answer your second, loaded question's difficult. For example, the HTC U23 Pro has micro SD card, decent processor (Snapdragon 7 Gen 1), headphone jack, a clean UI, and an affordable price (500€).

Why not put 7+ gen 2, even if it cost a little more? Why is it impossible for us to get microSD card, decent processor, headphone jack and clean UI for an affordable price? Xperia is too expensive

I can only comment on the US market, but for those bemoaning the current price of the phone, i've already seen the unlocked 5G version on sale for $199. It'll probably be bundled with carrier offers for even less, the price will not remain this high. For $200-$225 new the phone represents a good value especially with the chipset and gpu refresh. Eventually you'll see eBay flooded with refurbs and open boxes for $125-$175.
Yes i'm referring to the 2023 5G version.

I hope the charger comes with this 5G version, but I doubt it. Motorola is jumping on the me too bandwagon, probably using the excuse of helping the environment to make more money at our expense. Though I doubt they will get away with that overseas. I'm in the US. I personally am not paying full price for any phone that does not come with a charger.

It's still too small for a stylus phone. The 6.8 inches of last year's model was just big enough. The non 5G version is ridiculously small. This one is a little better, but why stop at 6.6 inches?
Otherwise, this is leagues better than the junk 4G version. The 4G version should not even exist. At least the 5G version has a pretty good processor. It could have been the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 instead. The 7 +Gen 2

If Lenovo would just update their phones as fast as they send out newer phones, then they would probably compete with Samsung but I guess, they like being at the back of the line for sales.

It is already for purchase at Best Buy for $400. Specifications say June 2nd, but not sure how long it has been on Best Buy's website. Not that I am going to buy it, but whoever is interested. I already have the Samsung Galaxy A34 International phone, and 4 major OS updates and 5 years of patches. Every 6 months is an update to the same OS a year, from Android 14 OneUI 6.0 first, then 6 months later 6.1. I mean end of this year, for Android 14, the 6.1 version of it just before Android 15. I prefer getting updates over, not or waiting over a year to even get one from Motorola (Lenovo) at all.

Anonymous, 31 May 2023FM Radio is a deal breaker for me. Cars are being mandated ... moreSorry, but that's a silly deal breaker IMO. Because the phone has an extra feature most phones don't have, you don't want it? OK. SMH.

For all intents and purposes this seems like a solid midrange phone. It's got an LCD display, pretty nice screen to body ratio, stereo speakers, not running on the old SD695, moto gestures are still sick, the only downgrade I see is no OIS for the camera and it's not clear if this phone will be popular enough for custom rom development. I'd like to hope that Android 15 or 16 will actually bring useful additions to warrant upgrading to them.
