I am so considering this as my upgrade even though it won't take pics as good as my Xperia T.

Earlier I owned a Windows phone "Samsung Omnia W" and was quite OK with it but I wished if it could provide me with more. The UI experience was good and refreshing. But applications, simply sucked. I liked Android for its openness but none of the phones impressed me. Then came Moto X with its awesome design and custom colors. I was excited and kept a watch on it for some months. Reviews were good and I thought of buying one. Finally got the news of FlipKart selling it exclusively in India.
I placed the order for a Royal Blue color on April 16 and got the delivery on April 24. I am going to share my initial impressions of the phone. I am not going to cover everything but some important ones that really matter.

Let's start with the negatives. I was impressed with the fluidity and smoothness of Moto X. Apps open smoothly, list scrolled smoothly. But I must say this. No matter how smooth it is as claimed by many, Android will never be as smooth as iOS. Period. Moto X's UI transition and animations are good but Apple's are the greatest. You can still see some minor glitches popping up here and there in Moto X. Try scrolling and flinging a list, swiping a gallery, etc and you can see it. You wanna try it yourself. Get an iPhone and keep it side by side with Moto X. Open email client in both the phones and scroll through the list. Open Play store and scroll through it. Tell me that iPhone is not smoother. Tell me android touch response is not jittery. People keep saying "My Moto X does not lag what so ever…". I think they just do not notice it or just ignore it. I am not an apple fan boy, actually I hate iPhone for its limitations but we cannot deny that iPhone is smoothest when it comes to touch and gesture response.
Now, coming to the camera, I must say it is not good. It's just OK. I would have forgiven Moto for such a minimalistic camera app had it been clicking great pictures. But, picture quality is just bland. It does not have the punch in it. It struggles getting the correct focus sometimes. Colors are average. It also has issues with contrast. You can overcome some of these by using third party camera apps and you can get some good results. I use VSCO camera for still pictures and I get good results. Video samples came out good with the default app but again your options are very very limited.
Coming to build quality, the back of my phone has a soft matte/rubber finish in royal blue color. But after using it for some time I observed that it gets dirty easily. Recently it got a brown color smudge in the back side at the point where it touches the surface when kept on its back. I tried to remove it using damp cloth but it would not go. I don't want to use alcohol as it may bleach the color out of it. So, I am kind of living with it right now. If anybody can provide a tested solution then that would be great.

Those were the major negatives I have come across so far which really mattered to me. Now talking about the good things, there are tons.
Build quality is awesome. I like the curved design with the dimple. My friends who have Moto G say that it would have been better if they had bought Moto X instead. I love the royal blue color. I was apprehensive about how it would look but it's pretty.
Display is very crisp and colorful. AMOLED screen colors are very saturated and I like it that way.
Sound quality is very good. I was actually surprised when I listened to the loud speaker. It is loud and does not feel cheap unlike those Chinese phones' speakers that pierce through your ears at bus stops. You know what I mean.
Nothing to talk about the UI as it is almost stock Android. I installed Apex launcher to spice it up a little bit and I am more than happy.
I love the Active Notification thing the most. It gives me a glance of most recent notifications and I can then decide if I want to see those or not.
Touchless control is very good especially "Find my phone" command. This is a very practical situation where we sometimes forget where we kept our phone and have to call it from someone other phone and wait for the ring. With Touchless control's "Find my phone" command, we can get it to beep and it helps us locate the phone. It does not respond to my voice every time though. May be I didn't train it properly.
Performance wise the phone has not disappointed me yet. I have played Real Racing 3 and Asphalt 8 Air Borne which are resource intensive games and I have not faced any problem till now.
All the basic functionalities like call quality, SMS, basic apps like Facebook, WhatsApp, Skype, etc work just fine and no complaints there.

I am really enjoying the power of Android in Moto X. I realize how much I was missing all these days with Windows phone. There are some negatives as well as positives but hey, no device is perfect. It completely depends on the person’s preference what he wants in a phone. I can give an overall rating of 7/10 to MotoX. Had the camera been better, it would have got 8.

                  Hi AL,

I got my Moto X last month same date, and i have been using it daily,My experience is as below,

                  Pro's :
Superb speed ( No lagging of applications)
Display is so perfect,Camera is awesome,
                  active display is perfect.
Audio clarity is great even in loud speaker.
Battery Back up is Pretty good(10 hours a day in 3g)

                  Cons:
If Battery Back is upgraded it would be more good
Phone slightly heats up while using 3g and charging at the same time

The only problem i have is with the voice control training:
The first three times i say ok google now it accepts and the next step it says there is a little noise and gets cancelled,Even if i do this in a very silent room where i have not fan or AC turned on.Pls does any one have a solution for this......pls reply
