I pulled this phone from the bottom of a box of gear that I've had for years. The apps I downloaded send all kinds about me of stuff to people I don't know. Gov't is bad enough but at least w/this phone only the phone co. and the gov't OVERTLY have my information. Plus, the battery lasts forever, it's light as a feather, it picks up a signal in the middle of nowhere, it sends and receives texts but I CAN'T text and drive, which is a great thing. And I figured out how to send and receive emails with it. TELLME is good as Google, my voicemail is my voice memo app, and with AudioNow, I can hear radio on my phone. I'm good.

You have read some positive reviews well here's the other side:

If I had to describe it in one sentence:
Beauty with no brains.Sure it looks gorgeous but that's pretty much it!

Let me explain. I my eyes there are 3 classes of mobile phones based on intelligence or features if you will.

                  1. The Monochromes:These are phones that usually have black and white screens and have limited features when it comes to customizability. You can't add apps or add more features and are typically very cheap, although they have a few dedicated features like stopwatch, calculator etc..

                  2. Feature Phones: Usually have color screens and can access the Internet and install small usually Java apps and games. You can also add ringtones and more rather easily.

                  3. Smart Phones: Virtually computers in their own right but have their own problems and limitations.

Guess which one the Motofone falls under?

Answer: None of them. That's right it doesn't even fall under monochromes!

The list of features is less than impressive:
                  Making calls
Sending text messages (limited to 2 lines on screen!)
                  Alarm
                  Address book
                  Loudspeaker
                  That's all folks! (seriously)

Although this phone was meant for developing countries its extremely bare bones feature set was not very appealing at all.

Interface:What interface, it looks like an oversized digital watch! You have to enter codes to perform certain activities (list on wikipedia)

I so liked the idea of this phone. You see it was one of the first to have an electrophoretic display which is basically electronic-ink and used very little power to run the display and virtually none if the display didn't change. But the interface was clunky and I almost had more fun navigating a calculator than this phone! People are admiring the long battery life and the almost indestructibility of the phone but I can't mirror their enthusiasm as I never had the phone long enough to do so. I had moved rather swiftly to a Nokia 1110i at the time because for one I want more features than a digital watch and 2 I want to access them in an intuitive and hassle free way.

This was the first handset I used in my life. My parents gifted me for having 2nd position in 5th class. I love this phone a lot. Really it's an awesome handset.

Wonder what F3 stands for. Bought a piece in Nov 07 in Delhi,India. El Cheap!!! That is about it? Good phone for the financially challenged, though.Pros: Good sound quality, excellent reception and loudspeaker. Tough phone for everyday use. Clear reception. Superb battery life. Smart looks... Bomb proof. Hammer proof. Cons: Horrific LED display. Texting? what texting. VERY Rudimentary. Some mid range phones of the 90s had more features. Hard to read the missed call list. Hard to read sms received. Can be dangerous if used for serious purposes, where you need to read texts and know who called. GREAT PHONE FOR TALKING ONLY! NO TEXTING. EXCELLENT ACOUSTICS.

Superb phone. I don't text, and if I want to go online, I use a computer, notebook, or tablet.

This is a phone, and almost nothing else. But as a phone, it excels! Light and compact, it fits in my pants pocket so well that I forget it's there.

If Motorola or a competitor ever decides to make this sort of no-frills phone again, some effort should be made to actually market it. I don't think Motorola even tried to sell it in the US.

Love this phone. This phone is worth every penny. It is sad that Motorola discontinued it. The phone's shell is very tough and u can rough use it. It has also got speaker phone which is very good. You can see the display screen on heavy sun light. The battery is also good 800mah.

Hopefully Motorola should introduce it again...

Excellent phone. The cheapest on the market. This is only a phone with an alarm and phone book. But as a phone is light, slim, excellent sound and reception and pleasant design. Not for texting or anything else. Talking only. No other phone comes closer.
