In 20 years time when design museums start curating exhibitions of great mobile phone of the past, I like to think the F3 will be among them. A great phone for what it's supposed to do...like you know...for talking to people...
Actually the display for reading txt's is not too bad either once you get used to it. It features innovative display technology (electronic paper), good battery life, very smart profile, and a low price. I've often had admiring comments from friends who (unaware of its design philosophy) think it is an expensive top-of-the-range phone because of its remarkable slimness. Credit must go to its designers too who purposefully designed a desirable gadget specifically for the developing world market.

Nonsense about the battery life. It says up to 300 hrs standby = 12 days. I wish.
The true figure = 5 to 6 days on numerous tests.

Has anyone had the problem with the signal and battery indicators fading and or not staying black and actually showing up the way they should? I am thinking of replacing the F3 I have with a new one, I still love this fone just not the one I got. Would live to get some feedback from other users.

To the editors of this page: The display is actualy a type of electronic paper. That's what Wikipedia says. Sort of like the future electronic newspapers. Chech it out on wikiipedia and edit this page, it's not alphanumeric, it's electronic paper, quite special!

This Phone was the best thing that happened to me during my europe trip. Texts are hard to read however it is a perfect handy phone for incoming and out going calls. Alarm works great and Catchy ringtones go along with it!

Great concept but what on earth were they thinking when they put that horrible alphanumeric display on it, ruined the whole thing, why couldn't they just put a plain old dot matrix LCD?

This little phone, is light and cheap, but very stylish looking. It is a basic phone, for making and receiving calls.
You can receive texts and send texts but the display is difficult to read, and there is an alarm. The thing is, this is a basic model,, and for the money? It's great. Loud ring, ideal for using as a home phone, for when all FIVE people in the house have; run out of battery; lost their phone; put it on silent and forgotten where it is; lent it to someone etc etc, and all you want to do is speak to someone at home!!!
Also great for taking on holiday/to festivals, it's so cheap it won't make you cry when it gets lost/stolen/wet or stamped on.
If you google for the info codes you can bar calling to anything but the address book ;-)
This is the user manual for you that have lost it. http://safemanuals.com/annexe_How%20to%20Guide_MOTOROLA_MOTOFONE%20F3-_E.htm for changing the ringtone, setting the alarm and how to change all settings.
All the people here complaining about it's lack of features, well, it actually has the features, but if you want the display to be better/more modern, buy a more expensive phone ;-)
We love outr little motorola f3
